Learning Futures is hosting a series of orientation workshops for academic and general staff in early 2018.
These workshops are designed for staff new to Griffith, taking on a new role as a Course Convenor or Program Director, or looking to enhance and refresh their skills for the trimester ahead.

Program Directors play an important role in leading our academic programs. To assist you in developing the knowledge and skills to fulfil this significant leadership role, you are invited to attend a half-day Program Directors' Orientation workshop.

During this interactive workshop, you will explore the scope of the Program Director role and responsibilities including:

  • Quality assurance and quality enhancement of programs.
  • Engaging with the industry / profession.
  • Leading and facilitating the teaching team.
  • Managing the program.
  • Student administration and progression.

This workshop will enable you to network with other Program Directors, provide you with strategies for effective program leadership, and identify resources, processes and policies that will support you in your role.

This event is recommended for:
- new and early career Program Directors
- experienced Program Directors wishing to refresh their skills.

The Course Convenor has an integral leadership role to play in facilitating positive student learning experiences and success, and working closely with the Program Director and teaching team to effectively design, develop, implement and evaluate their course(s).

This orientation workshop is designed for new or early-career Course Convenors to explore the various aspects of the Course Convenor role:

  • Facilitating the quality assurance and enhancement of the course.
  • Engaging with the industry / profession.
  • Facilitating and guiding the teaching team.
  • Managing the course including course profiles, resources and assessment.
  • Facilitating student enrolment and progression.

Throughout the workshop you will have the opportunity to network with experienced Course Convenors, discuss strategies for effective course leadership, and explore resources, processes and policies that will support you in your role.

This event is recommended for:
- new and early career Course Convenors.

Transition to Griffith is an orientation program designed to welcome and support all members of staff new to Griffith University.

In order to ensure that you are well prepared for your role, all new members staff are welcome to attend this program. It features a welcome to the University by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ian O’Connor, together with members from Executive Group and provides an important opportunity to network with colleagues from around the University. This workshop is for both Academic and General Staff.

This event is recommended for:
- academic and general staff new to Griffith.

Are you new to teaching or looking to enhance and refresh how you teach? The Teaching for Learning: Foundations of University Teaching (FUT) two day workshop is designed to support you in becoming an intentional, effective educator of student learning.

In the workshop we explore:

  • who our students are
  • factors that impact on their learning
  • strategies that promote effective learning.

It focuses on practical knowledge to help you settle into your teaching role. This workshop is a starting point in a suite of professional learning opportunities that will support your development as an effective leader of learning at Griffith.

This event is recommended for:
- all casual academic staff
- full time staff who are new to teaching
- staff in learning support roles.
