A Note From Our Chapter President

Greetings WTS Community,

Thank you to everyone who came out on July 9th for our Membership Mixer and DBE Expo. We will be following up with an email to all non-members who attended with a special discount offer for those of you who are inspired to join, so watch your inboxes for details.

I hope that everyone is enjoying summer. It’s hard to believe that we are approaching August, but WTS has one more summer event for you to enjoy before the season’s end. Our next event is a land and river tour on August 6th presented by Fairmount Water Works. This event is open to everyone and family guests are welcome. We hope to see you there!

Regards,

July Event Recap: Membership Mixer/DBE Expo

MM DBE

WTS Philadelphia Membership Committee hosted its annual Membership Mixer on Thursday, July 9 at Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse in Philadelphia. It was a delightfully warm sunny day as members and non-members congregated to the penthouse for networking and fellowship, relishing the sweeping view of Center City from the roof deck while enjoying the evening’s offerings of finger foods and beverages. More than 160 professionals attended this year’s Mixer, making it one of the best attended yet!

WTS Philadelphia Diversity Committee also hosted its 2nd Annual DBE Expo in conjunction with the Membership Mixer. 12 DBE firms participated in the Expo, breaking the record from last year’s participation. Members and non-members mingled with the DBE firms and explored future teaming opportunities. More information on the DBE participants is available here. Many thanks to all the members who attended and extended the invitation to non-members!

Platinum Sponsor Spotlight: STV

07 STV

For more than 40 years, STV’s Transportation & Infrastructure Division has served the transportation industry, meeting the needs of clients and the traveling public through planning, design and construction of major transportation projects. We earned our national reputation as a leader in the transportation and infrastructure industries by providing high quality service; an integrated, multidisciplinary approach; exceptional project experience; and veteran project managers and principals — many of whom are former managers of passenger rail agencies. As a result, many of our clients repeatedly retain us for new and continued projects, and we are consistently ranked among the top consulting firms by Engineering News-Record.

One such client is the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). Over the past year, STV began providing engineering, testing, and project management services to the MBTA for their multimillion-dollar procurement of 152 Orange and 74 Red line vehicles. The Orange and Red subway lines are vital to Boston in that they carry more than 450,000 passengers per day and stop at North and South stations, two multimodal transit centers that connect major parts of the city and surrounding region.

About STV: Founded more than 100 years ago, STV is a leader in providing engineering, planning, architectural, environmental and construction management services for transportation systems, infrastructure, buildings, energy and other facilities. The firm is ranked 39th in Engineering News-Record’s Top 500 Design Firms survey and 9th in its Transportation category. STV is 100 percent employee-owned.
