New Website for Collaborate for Healthy Weight

With the New Year comes a new website for Collaborate for Healthy Weight initiative. The website contains useful information on strategies and tools you can apply to improve the health of your community. We invite you to use–and contribute to–these helpful resources.

Improvement Is Personal

“I have never felt less intelligent or less capable than when I was trying to navigate the various systems in which my children were involved,” admits Meghan Guinnee, NICHQ project director, in this month’s Leadership Message. Dr. Guinnee has turned her frustrating first-hand experiences as parent into a focus on improving children’s services – as director of NICHQ’s Improving Hearing Screening & Intervention Systems (IHSIS) project.

New Guidebook Helps Families and Providers Collaborate on Improvement Teams

NICHQ leads the way for many family members and providers to work together as partners on improvement teams with shared objectives.

This new guidebook provides valuable insight and advice to help parent and provider colleagues make the most of these Powerful Partnerships.

What Is a Medical Home, Anyhow?

“The concept of the family-centered Medical Home is very confusing,” says NICHQ’s CEO, Charlie Homer. But it’s really a very simple idea.

In this short video, Dr. Homer explains what it is and why people are excited about it.

New Opportunities to Join NICHQ Initiatives

Best Fed Beginnings, an initiative to improve maternity care practices nationwide by improving breastfeeding practices through Baby-Friendly USA designation, seeks up to 90 hospitals to participate in an 18-month nationwide learning collaborative.

Collaborate for Healthy Weight, a national initiative to reverse the obesity epidemic in communities across the country, is recruiting 40 cross-sector teams to join a 12-month virtual learning community.

Scholarships Available for the Be Our Voice Online Advocacy Training Course

NICHQ is offering a limited number of scholarships to healthcare professionals who are interested in accessing the course before its public launch in the spring. Applications will be accepted until January 31, 2012, so apply now!
