Trammell Crow Center's $140 Million Skyscraper Redo is Headed Toward a Finish

As Reported by The Dallas Morning News

After almost a year of construction, work crews revamping Downtown Dallas' landmark Trammell Crow Center are in a race toward the finish line.

The $140 million redo of the Ross Avenue skyscraper will be mostly done by the end of the year. The project — by owner JP Morgan Asset Management and Stream Realty Partners — is the most elaborate renovation yet of one of Downtown's iconic 1980s towers.

"We are excited because we are getting close to the end," Stream Realty Partners' managing director Ramsey March said giving a tour of the project. "The response from the market has already been strong. We have more prospects and proposals than the space we have left."

Stream Realty still has to fill a 175,000-square-foot block of space in the building being left vacant with accounting firm PriceWaterhouseCooper's move to the new Park District tower in Uptown.

But since starting the high-rise renovation last year, new office tenants including Goldman Sachs, coworking firm Common Desk and other companies have taken large blocks of space in the Trammell Crow Center.

The reinvention includes a Royal Blue grocery boutique store on the ground floor of the skyscraper along with a new full-service restaurant by Dallas' NL Group.

On the second floor of the tower there will be a conference center and exercise facilities, with open-air terraces overlooking Ross Avenue. The Harwood Street side of the tower facing the Dallas Museum of Art gets a large outdoor patio and seating area with a tenant lounge opening to the new plaza.

Tech Firm OrderMyGear Looks to Grow Staff, Doubles its Office in Downtown Dallas

As Reported by The Dallas Morning News

A fast-growing tech firm is more than doubling its footprint in a new Downtown Dallas redevelopment.

Digital firm OrderMyGear has rented 23,000 square feet of offices in the new East Quarter redevelopment along Commerce Street at Cesar Chavez. The building where the company is expanding at 2211 Commerce Street was a Cadillac auto dealership back in the 1920s and 1930s.

OrderMyGear, which provides digital software services for the apparel and sporting goods industries, has 80 workers at its Downtown headquarters. It is one of the largest businesses located in the 8-block area that is being redeveloped on the east side of Downtown.

The company recently earned a spot on Inc.'s annual ranking of fastest growing businesses in the nation. With revenues of $13 million in 2017, OrderMyGear posted three-year growth of 676 percent.

Earlier this year, OrderMyGear raised $35 million from investors to add new features to its software and to boost marketing efforts.

"The expanded space will support the potential doubling of our headcount during the next few years," James Skidmore, company co-founder and COO, said in a statement. "Our team is excited to expand and be a part of the growth in the East Quarter."
