A Note From Our Chapter President

Dear WTS Members and Friends,

Welcome to a new year and a new term for our chapter’s leadership. WTS Philadelphia is already off to a great start this year, having completed our strategic planning session with an excellent group of returning and new chapter volunteers. We have exciting things on the horizon including topical monthly program offerings, an expanded variety of professional development offerings, plans to ratify a student chapter, and continuation of our professional mentoring program. This is all possible due to the incredible continued support from our Corporate Sponsors, so I would like to thank our new and returning sponsors.

Having the opportunity and honor to assume the chapter presidency as I simultaneously prepare for maternity leave is a testament to the important strides being made every day in support of career-life balance. This opportunity would not be possible without the help of my incredible support system, both at work and at home. Fittingly, it has been largely through my WTS involvement that I learned to seek out and build that support system. I would like to thank each and every Board member for working so effectively with me this month to help ensure chapter functions are in place in my absence. I leave the chapter in great hands under the leadership of our Vice President, Patti Gibson May, and our incredibly motivated Board.

Sincerely,

Syrnick_Megan

Trails_EventWTS Philadelphia kicked off 2015 with its first lunch seminar on January 10th with a presentation by Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s (DVRPC) Shawn Megill Legendre regarding The Circuit, an initiative launched in 2012 to build out the region’s multi-use trail network.

To date, the effort has identified 300 miles of multi-use trails and trail segments - including the Schuylkill River Trail, the Lawrence-Hopewell Trail, and the new Penn Street cycle path; 50 trail-miles in progress; and 400 miles of planned trails - including the Spring Garden Street cycle path, the Camden Greenway, and part of the East Coast Greenway, as well as the Manayunk and Gray’s Ferry Crossing bridge projects.

WTS Philadelphia would like to thank Shawn and DVRPC for sharing their work on this forward-thinking initiative! Click here to read more.
