New Accreditation Components Launched
AdvancED is pleased to announce the launch of our new AdvancED Accreditation Protocol and new components for the AdvancED Adaptive System of School Improvement Support Tools (ASSIST). Coupled with the new AdvancED Accreditation Standards, launched last fall, these tools and protocols mark a new generation of accreditation and school improvement.  The new AdvancED Protocol creates a stronger alignment between internal and external diagnostic review, stakeholder feedback, and student performance results.  The result is a performance-based accreditation process that provides each institution with a comprehensive analysis to drive continuous improvement.

Additional components of ASSIST also have been released.  In addition to the school improvement planner launched last fall, ASSIST now provides the tools to guide your next internal and external review for accreditation, including Surveys, Student Performance Diagnostic and Stakeholder Feedback Diagnostic tools.

If you will be hosting an External Review (formerly Quality Assurance Review) in 2012-13, you are required to use ASSIST to submit a Self-Assessment, Executive Summary, and Assurances.  As in the past, you will continue to be required to submit a school improvement plan.  ASSIST offers a high quality school improvement planner, or you may submit an existing plan by attaching it in the Assurances section of ASSIST.

Even if you don’t have an External Review scheduled in the coming year, you can begin exploring and using the new offerings.  If you have questions about the AdvancED Accreditation Standards, Accreditation Protocol, or ASSIST, please contact our office.

Volunteer to Serve!
We have over 100 school level and school system level External Reviews scheduled for the 2012-2013 school year. If you have attended one of our workshops or hosted the review at your own school or school system, you are qualified to serve on a review team.  Educators from across the country rate their service on review teams as one of the most powerful professional development experiences of their careers.  Please contact Mari Thornton at mthornton@advanc-ed.org if you are interested in volunteering.
2012 - 2013 External Reviews
Schools hosting an External Review in 2012-13 must submit their preferred dates to the AdvancED Florida Office. Memos and date request forms were mailed March 12.  Date requests were due on April 2. If your school has not submitted its dates, please e-mail your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd accreditation review date choices to Mari Thornton at mthornton@advanc-ed.org so that a team can be assigned for your review.

Available Resources
AdvancED has created Accreditation Resources and Tools to assist schools and school systems with the accreditation and school improvement process.  Now in a single, convenient location, these resources only are available to institutions involved in AdvancED Accreditation.  Many of the tools and resources have been updated and new ones have been added.  Because these resources have been placed in a repository created only for schools and school systems involved in the accreditation process, your principal, head of school, or superintendent will have details on locating these resources and tools.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact our office.

AdvancED, the home of NCA CASI, NWAC, and SACS CASI, is dedicated to
advancing excellence in education worldwide.
