Dear Members

The Singapore business community is fortunate in many ways. It is especially fortunate that we have a pro-business government which provides many avenues for feedback and suggestions.

We’ve recently connected a Chamber member company to the Pro-Enterprise Panel (PEP) because your fellow member has business issues which span the jurisdiction of a number of agencies and ministries. A whole-of-government response is needed to help this Singaporean business. We’re confident that PEP will do just that. So, what is the PEP in case you might need its help?

The Pro-Enterprise Panel (PEP) is a private-public panel chaired by the Head of the Civil Service with mainly business leaders as members. The panel is supported by a network of senior public officers.

PEP serves as an internal advocate for businesses within the government to enable a more pro-enterprise environment that facilitates the growth of competitive businesses. Specifically, the PEP looks at 3 key areas: -

1. It supports the cutting of red tape and it works on feedback / suggestions from businesses on the regulatory challenges they face by working closely with public agencies to co-create solutions e.g. business compliance costs, delays / onerous processes, outdated regulations.

2. It manages LicenceOne, which allows companies to apply and renew their business licences via the one-stop portal. And

3. PEP also develops and manages the Business Grants Portal. PEP works closely with public agencies to provide timely, effective and practical solutions to address the regulatory concerns that businesses face. Since its inception in 2000, more than 1,900 suggestions have been received and more than half of these have led to pro-business changes in rules or regulations.

To find out more about PEP, please visit the PEP website here.

Have a great week ahead.

Warmest regards

Victor Mills
Chief Executive
