Message From the President
Jim Paul
I'm writing this message from "on location" at the Missouri SHRM State Conference at the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. Although the week started out slowly and rainy, the energy and weather quickly improved to exciting levels. It was great networking with other HR professionals and attorneys from all around the State - meeting new friends, seeing many of our current Chapter members, and re-connecting with "old" friends. The Pedal Hits the Metal in OFCCP Enforcement: What You Need to Know in 2015 and Beyond

Presented by: Sandra Hueneman, President, Manchester Consultants & Teresa Turner, President & Lead Consultant, Synchronized Resources, Inc.
7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Registration & Networking
8:00 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. Program

Two and a half years after its initial release, "And the Survey Says...The Impact of OFCCP's Aggressive Enforcement Agenda on Compliance Evaluation Results" published in BLR's "Affirmative Action Solutions" October 2012, Issue 209, Manchester Consultants' updated study of the DOL Enforcement database indicates there continues to be valid concerns related to ability to survive the increasing demands of the OFCCP. Although pressure from this regulatory agency continues to intensify, resources for defusing it are not always so readily available.

In an attempt to defuse some of that pressure, this session will cover the following:
  • EEO and affirmative action rules of engagement
  • OFCCP compliance evaluation trends
  • FY 2014 OFCCP's Top Ten Violations
  • Ten Key Essentials to OFCCP Survival
  • Questions and Answers
As so many that have been cited with violations learn, Affirmative Action is much more than a paperwork exercise. Click here for more information and to register.

Human Resources Fire Department
By Molly Marroquin

It's easy to get caught up thinking of HR as the fire department that comes in only when the house is on fire. But a more effective HR group would be symbolic of a sprinkler system put in throughout a building. A sprinkler system has a series of spouts to target specific areas of the building if/when a fire should occur. The intention is to pin-point the small parts of a fire rather than waiting until a fire hose is the only resort, and the building is unsalvageable. In addition to the targeted channels of water flowing through the building like veins, a sprinkler system also has sensors to indicate when to release the water, and where.
