A Message from the Chapter President, Mike Wescott

c24ac2_34c8cb424f984dc8a39a4440a09a0d98_mv2 Dear Fundraisers,

On Tuesday, May 19, your chapter Board met for the first time in 4 months. We only meet every other month anyway and for our March meeting, we just had to cancel it as things were closing down. Tuesday’s meeting was a Zoom meeting, something that we have all had to get used to these days.

Every committee is working hard to learn how to best serve you while keeping up

with all the changes in working from home and not having access to all your office materials. But in the end, we are actually slowing coming back to a “normal” schedule.

The National Philanthropy Day Committee has been busy and is now actively accepting nominations to our NPD celebration this fall. Please take a minute to nominate someone. We are especially looking for those heroes in our more rural communities to acknowledge and appreciate all their work.

Our professional development programming will resume in May and June with some “soft” launches with several webinars. This will allow you to slowly transition back and then in July, we hope to have our first in person session. More details on that to follow.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. This is certainly not the 2020 that I expected. But I am confident that we will be stronger and more adaptable on the other side.

With gratitude,
Mike Wescott, CFRE

 Outstanding New Professional Outstanding Philanthropists
The Sunderland Foundation was established in 1945 by Lester Sunderland and continues to be led by his family today. The foundation's main areas of interest include higher education, youth-serving agencies, health facilities, museums, civic projects and energy-efficient housing projects.

Haley Crowson is KMUW's Community Engagement Coordinator. She plans over 50 events a year and coordinates volunteers. In addition to her work at KMUW, she manages social media for the Old Town Association.

For Yolanda and Gene Camarena, the best moments are when students they've mentored or provided scholarships come back to the community to share their success stories.
