Winter Weather Blues:  What Employers Need to do When Employees Are Not Needed at Work - The Forecast according to Federal and State Wage Laws  There is an expression that if you don't like New England weather just wait a minute as it will change. One of the biggest challenges for employers during these dark and cold months is determining if and when to close because of bad weather and how many employees, if any, are "essential" for that day.  Click here for the Legal and Legislative Update on this subject.

Legal Links is now a regular section providing useful links to employment law resources. This information is provided by MAHRA Members Andrea Chatfield, Esq. of Cook, Little, Rosenblatt & Manson and Jim Reidy, Esq. of Sheehan, Phinney, Bass, & Green.

Our March Event - Leveraging Today's Intergenerational Workforce

Workplaces today are generational melting pots. Knowing how to manage and motivate individuals with distinct experiences, values and needs can mean the difference between a profitable company and one that fails to thrive. Never before has there been such a diversity of generations in the workforce. Join us on Tuesday, March 3rd for an opportunity to learn more about this topic.  For details regarding the program and presenter, click Leveraging Today's Intergenerational Workforce.
Don't forget our buffet breakfast starts at 7:30 am!

Our First Program in our Strategic Series Designed for Senior HR Leaders

Our senior HR members told us they wanted more strategic program content so we’ve partnered with the Seacoast Area Human Resources Association (SHRA) to develop a Masters’ Level Series of professional development programs designed specifically for senior level Human Resources Professionals!
On March 18th, we’re so excited to be launching this joint initiative by presenting the first in this series:

Bridging the Leadership Divide

  • Between now and 2030 78,000,000 baby boomers will be retiring.
  • By 2015 baby boomers will cede the majority of the workforce to Generation Y.
  • Are you ready for the largest shift in human talent in history?

Any organization’s success is tied to its people and their abilities to grow and lead. This exciting seminar will give you the skills to uncover emerging leaders within your organizations and foster the intergenerational mentoring relationships to bridge this looming leadership divide.

Deborah McLaughlin, Author of The Renegade Leader, will lead this master’s level seminar and interactive discussion on March 18th, 7:30 - 11:30 am at Riverwoods, Five Timber Lane, Exeter, NH 03833
