Nation’s leading ‘think tank’ on startups to present at Entrepreneurs’ Conference
Is Wisconsin really the nation’s worst state for business startups? If so, what policies and strategies would help the state move out of the cellar? Those questions and more will be answered by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation at the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference June 8. Also, see an earlier news release on Erik Iverson, the incoming director of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, who will speak the morning of June 8.

Health innovation in the Fox Valley: ‘First Look’ at UW-Oshkosh startups at May 12 WIN-Northeast
Three examples of health startups from the UW-Oshkosh Alta Resources Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation will be highlighted during a “First Look” forum within the Thursday, May 12, meeting of the Tech Council’s Wisconsin Innovation Network in northeast Wisconsin.

From lab to marketplace: Stem cell research after 20 years is topic of May 24 WIN-Madison
It has been 20 years since Dr. James Thomson and other researchers at the UW-Madison set out on a course to isolate human embryonic stem cells. How that breakthrough is helping human health and fostering new companies will be discussed at the May 24 meeting of the Wisconsin Innovation Network in Madison.

Twenty-five entries advance to second phase in ‘Wisconsin YES!’ youth biz plan contest
A statewide panel of judges have selected 25 entries to advance to Phase 2 of Wisconsin YES!, a youth business plan contest for students in middle school and high school.
