President's Letter for April 2017

Hello everyone,

It’s an exciting time for SC Midlands Chapter. We have experienced a large amount of growth and have some great educational events coming up. Be sure to check your e-mail for notifications from Cvent and/or go to www.scisaca.org for more information! If anyone has any ideas on topics that they would like to be presented, or would like to present themselves, please let us know. We would love to hear from you. Currently, we still have an available spot for Social Media Director. If you enjoy Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Google+, drop us a message and help us fill a critical role and be a part of our organizations success.

TechnoSecurity is right around the corner, and coming up quick. Register to attend and make sure you book your room early (as they tend to sell out quick). I’ll be presenting, as will some familiar names and faces, such as our very own Leighton Johnson, and also Ken Cutler. More information can be found at www.technosecurity.us.

Thanks and look forward to seeing you at our next event,

Marc Punzirudu, SC Midlands ISACA Chapter President

                                                                                                                          Certification Exam Site Problem
IMPORTANT - Certification offer by ISACA

Site 3301 – Columbia, SC – Exam Day Issue

ISACA has been informed by our testing agency of some disturbances at the December 2016 CISA, CRISC, CISM and CGEIT exam administration at the Columbia, South Carolina exam site.  We understand that during the exam administration a fire alarm sounded requiring an evacuation. We were also informed that an event next to the testing rooms resulted in extraneous noise throughout the exam administration.  ISACA sincerely apologizes for the testing environment under which you took the exam.

To be equitable to all exam candidates adversely affected by this unfortunate situation, ISACA is providing a free May/June 2017 re-take of their respective exam to candidates who do not pass the exam. For those that do pass, you can proceed with applying for certification. Exam result emails will be distributed in January 2017.

SC Cyber will host a FREE Lock Down Your Login workshop on April 10 in Charleston and April 11 in Columbia.

The “Lock Down Your Login” campaign, a key public-facing pillar of the multifaceted Cybersecurity National Action Plan (CNAP) announced by the White House in February 2016, is a STOP. THINK. CONNECT. Initiative led by the National Cyber Security Alliance and developed by a coalition of industry leaders and like-minded organizations working in collaboration with government, who understand the importance of cybersecurity awareness and education.  The campaign is built upon a broad, coordinated effort to increase consumer awareness of our individual and collective roles in cybersecurity.
