It is also the ideal time to take stock of where we stand as an organisation and how we take a new direction to become more innovative and bring even more value to our members. Last but not least, it is a time for sharing, networking and thanking our Members, Committee members, Councillors, Patrons, Sponsors and Friends of the BSCC.
I look forward to welcoming many of you on the 17th June!

It is now over a month since the UK General Elections took place, and 'Brexit’ is still a question that needs to be answered.
In your opinion, will a Brexit settle UK-EU relations once and for all?
> Yes
> No
> Maybe
Question of the Month May - Results
The May Question of the Month asked BSCC members whether the UK General Election Results will put the Union at risk. The results were pretty close with 53% responded yes, and 47% no. Many respondents commented on role of the Scottish National Party in the outcome of the elections and the future of the Union. Further comment was made about the upcoming referendum: “It strengthens the SNPs demand for further devolution. If this is met the referendum vote to remain in the Union is unlikely to be questioned in the medium term. However, the big political parties need to completely re-think their approach to Scotland and become Scottish parties north of the border.”

95th Anniversary | AGM Celebration
As you may have heard by now, it’s our anniversary! With the 95th Anniversary AGM around the corner, our message is clear: we are celebrating! The AGM will offer members an evening of entertainment at The Dolder Grand surrounded by finery, live music, 5* catering, both vintage and modern Aston Martin’s as well as hearing from our inspirational keynote speaker Patrick Warnking, of Google Switzerland speaking about Digital Transformation. With our own campaign of Where tradition inspires change, the BSCC is evolving - constantly exploring new innovations and concepts to add more value to its members. We welcome you to take advantage of the networking and celebrations at our most esteemed event of the year.
Launch of BSCC UK "Stammtisch"
There is a deep seam of entrepreneurship in the UK Chapter and to support this we have decided to borrow an excellent idea from some of the other chapters and organise a regular Stammtisch. Small companies, large companies which support and invest in new ideas are all welcome. We have decided to go for the last Wednesday in the month. The first Stammtisch will take place on Wednesday June 24 at the Andaz Champagne Lounge from 5.30 pm. We look forward to seeing you. The toast is “Champagne for our real friends, real pain for our sham friends.” Read more
Launch of Younger Professionals' Group in Geneva!
So many new and young faces: it was gratifying to see! Geneva recently followed in the successful steps of Zürich and launched its own new and special, networking soirée, the Younger Professionals’ Group. A great success! Thoughtful and topical Angela de Wolff, of Conser Invest, addressed her very attentive audience about sustainable finance and how it can combine impact with financial performance. And the energetic and outgoing Laura Penn amused, informed, challenged and reassured her audience about “understanding body language at networking events”. Most helpful. There is obviously a lot of interest and large group of younger professionals in Geneva with a hunger for such events. The next Young Professionals Event will take place in Zurich on 7th July. Please register early to avoid disappointment.

The Dolder Grand: First class service with a modern twist
The Dolder Grand's history dates back to 1899 when it was opened as "Dolder Grand Hotel and Curhaus". The Dolder was world famous and has over many decades welcomed many celebrities and valued guests. Towards the end of the 1990's it became clear that a major investment was needed if the old-established hotel was to maintain its position among the top flight of international luxury hotels. After four years of conversion and renovation (2004 to 2008) the fusion of tradition and modernity is now not only reflected in the architecture but in the interior design. The excellent delivery and outstanding completion of every service is our day-to-day focus. This tradition has been lived for decades in the hotel business and is still the most valued today by our guests. Read more

Did you know that the UK brought a record number of FDI projects in 2014
Another strong year: the UK pulls away from the pack...in the latest EY Attractiveness survey once again, the UK turned in an outstanding performance in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 2014. The numbers speak for themselves: a record number of 887 projects, up 11% on 2013; increased European market share; and a market-leading 31,198 jobs created. On the Continent Switzerland shines, attracting 85 projects, up 12% compared to 2013. An abrupt appreciation of the Swiss franc gave the Swiss more purchasing power — perhaps contributing a sharp rise in new sales and representative offices (+19 projects). It also made it cheaper for Swiss companies to invest abroad and snap up foreign assets though M&A.
