REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR THESE UPCOMING CLASSES:
Come catch the last CPEs of the year and meet one of the ISACA International Board of Directors! The Challenges and Opportunities Facing Today's CISOs, December 2016 SC Midlands Event Presented by: Eddie Schwartz, CISA, CISM, President and COO, White Ops, Inc., ISACA Board Director
It seemed like a visionary idea in the mid-1990’s – cyber security finally would be taken seriously by inventing a C-suite position. The CISO was born, and every organization wanted one. But unfortunately, expectations and results through the years have not matched the outcome. Can a CISO ensure compliance with myriad regulations or international standards? Can a CISO provide for ROI and develop clear risk metrics? Can a CISO defend against the hordes of Chinese, Russian, Syrian, ISIS, and other hackers? The answer to all these questions is a resounding NO. This talk traces the history of the CISO, the unfulfilled dreams and hopes of both security practitioners and the companies that hire them, epic failures and successes, and what the future holds for this evolving profession in the face of advanced threats and technology change.
Additionally hear the following:
Data Breach History - presented by Marc Punzirudu
Local Security Panelist Discuss Changes made to deal with all the security challenges
Incident Response - presented by Tom Scott

Lower Richland High School Career Fair, November 4, 2016
By Audra Woods, Research Director for SC Midlands Chapter of ISACA
Joey Beasley, Dakota McAveney and I had a magnificent time at Lower Richland High School Career Fair. Together, we spoke to at least twenty-five (25) students and teachers.
Let me start by giving professional recognition to Joey and Dakota for sharing their experiences and life stories with the students on how they were influenced to get started in Information Technology. The students at the fair were encouraged to get a head start on an in-demand cyber career, and encouraged to attend ISACA free or discounted training for students at the local SC Midlands Chapter of ISACA.
The Cybersecurity Fundamental Career Starter, the ISACA Fact Sheet, and the complimentary study guide were displayed at the career fair with the history of ISACA and the benefits of the CSX Fundamental Certificate shared with teachers and students. From my past recruiter experiences, I encouraged students not to let this opportunity ISACA provides slip away. If the older generations were provided the same opportunities, many people including myself would have taken time to enhance and advance their IT and Cyber knowledge in their early career. Students will gain fundamental knowledge in the principles and key concepts that frame and define cyber security and will distinguish themselves from other candidates with the use of these CSX benefits.
I truly believe the best part of the career fair for the students was the candy. We ran out of candy and would like to thank Tom Scott of SC Cyber who provided an additional bag of candy. I look forward to future opportunities to talk about my IT roles and my future plans in Cybersecurity.
