March 24, 2016

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 24, 2016
Susan Lichtenstein, director of Global Travel for Cisco Systems, has accepted the volunteer leadership role of US Region Board Member for the Association of Corporate Travel Executives, effective March 1, 2016. Appointed by ACTE President Kurt Knackstedt (with board approval) in accordance with association bylaws, Lichtenstein will fill the seat vacated by Lori O’Connell, who was named the group’s treasurer last January. Lichtenstein’s term will run through 31 March 2017, during which time the US Board seat will be filled via the normal election cycle.

“Susan Lichtenstein personifies the C-suite experience and global scope that has made this association the primary research resource for business travel professionals around the world,” said Knackstedt. “A dedicated ACTE member and renowned business travel industry leader, I am delighted to be working with her for the next year.”

Lichtenstein’s appointment is in addition to an association-wide election for two “at-large” board of director’s seats that will be determined on 22 March 2016. Four “buyer” members are being selected to maintain ACTE’s critical buyer-to-supplier ratio at the board of directors level.

Director of Global Travel for Cisco Systems, Lichtenstein manages worldwide procurement operations.  Her revised travel policy is credited with increasing compliance by 55 percent, while saving $207 million in travel spend.  Committed to traveler experience, Lichtenstein implemented Web 2.0 technology to Cisco travelers, including a forum, interactive website, blog, mobile booking application and online training that dramatically transformed the customer experience. Her approach to alternative travel replaced 68,000 trips with virtual meetings.

“I am honored to serve on the ACTE Board of Directors,” said Lichtenstein. “‘ACTE is where decision makers and leaders come to learn. Where innovation happens.”
