The new year is off to a fast start for the
Wisconsin Technology Council, which is planning for major events and policy efforts to highlight issues that matter to people and companies in the state’s tech sectors. New for 2019: The sixth annual Tech Summit will
be held at Lambeau Field in Green Bay; the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference will move to Venue 42 in Milwaukee; the Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium will be expanded to include the WARF Innovation Day; and the Tech Council Innovation Network’s Madison luncheon
will move to The Coliseum Bar and Banquet. Finally, look more information soon on the 2019 summer conference of the Tech Councils of North America, to be held in late July in Madison. Happy (and prosperous) New Year!

Economic
'Opportunity Zones' incentives topic of Jan. 10 Tech Council event in Wauwatosa
How can Wisconsin benefit from having parts of 44 counties, 60 municipalities and two tribal reservations designated as federal "Opportunity Zones?" This program provides an avenue for investors to spur development in Wisconsin's low-income, high-poverty areas.
Panelists will include Jon Lancaster, managing director at
Lancaster Investments, State Rep. Jason M. Fields and Brenda Graat, senior manager at
Baker Tilly. The event will take place at UW-Milwaukee's Innovation Accelerator.

first round of competition is 5 p.m. on Jan. 31. Applicants submit 250-word write-ups for the first round, which go through an initial judging period.

out for red flags in any e-mail you receive.

you don’t recognize.”
