Would you like to better understand your students and how they are engaging in your course? Would you like to get a whole new perspective on the ‘digital world’ of your course?
Effective university educators have always used evidence to inform their practice and optimise students learning. As our courses and programs are increasingly delivered in technology-enabled and online modes, we need to find new ways of ‘seeing’ our students. Course Analytics@Griffith helps you visualise your students’ ‘digital footprints’ (e.g., class materials accessed, activity in discussion forums, etc) and better understand how they are engaging, behaving and performing in your course.

Griffith staff tell us that they find the Course Analytics@Griffith dashboards relatively ‘easy to understand’ and provide information that they are ‘likely to use’. Some of the questions Course Analytics@Griffith will help you answer include:

  • How are students engaging with the activities in my course? Which elements of my course (e.g., tools, content, etc) appear to be more or less engaging for my students?
  • How do students vary in their patterns and levels of course activity over a teaching period?
  • What elements of my course appear to be more or less associated with students overall success?
  • Which of my students may benefit from additional assistance or encouragement?

Course Analytics@Griffith dashboards have been designed to provide user-friendly access that will empower you to enhance the design and delivery of your course. You will be able to:

  • profile your student cohort with key demographic and enrolment criteria before your course starts
  • access near real-time data (24 hour lag) on what’s happening in your course
  • display your course data in flexible ways (e.g.,whole-class snapshots, individual profiles, student activity for specific time periods)
  • compare current with previous offerings of your course by accessing historical digital data.

Course Analytics@Griffith dashboards are designed to support all Griffith educators, it doesn’t matter if you are new to the use of digital data or not. You will find the scaffolding to help you form a richer picture of the impact of your course on student engagement and learning.
