PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

April is here, and spring is in full swing.  If you completed a NCAA bracket, good luck to you if you still have a team in the fight…me not so much.  Last month we had our March Madness event, which turned out to be amazing as usual. The chapter was able to raise $3,566 for the Boys & Girls Club!  This is outstanding, and many thanks to everyone who participated.

Also, it is that time of the year when we ask our members for their feedback. Our annual survey has been sent out, and we hope that you will take some time to complete the survey. Your responses will help us better understand your needs and help us plan and craft content and events that enhance the value of your membership.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this week at Align for the tour and social and wishing for perfect weather for the golf tournament.

GTC OF IFMA MEMBER ERIN DUNCAN RECEIVES FREE SFP CREDENTIAL PROGRAM

IFMA National granted each chapter one SFP Credential program to award to a component member.  The GTC of IFMA Professional Development Committee was pleased to present the SFP program to member Erin Duncan with SECU in February 2023.  Packed with the latest insights and best practices, the SFP credential program is designed to help Facility Managers meet the evolving demands of environmental responsibility.  Please see Erin’s comments below on her progress.

How long does it take you to go through the SFP modules?

As of March 28th, I have passed three chapters.

Any words of wisdom you’d like to share for those who might think they want to pursue the SFP credential?

I was anxious about taking the course as I am not a great test taker and balancing the course with a full-time job. I have found as long as I read through the chapters at least two times, taking notes, I am able to pass the tests. It can be difficult at times finding proper time to read the material, but I am working on finding the proper balance between work, studying, and everyday life.

How do you like the new format SFP program?

I have been enjoying learning about sustainability and look forward to applying the new knowledge to my current role as a Facilities Management Officer specializing in Health and Safety at SECU!
