Lead Evaluator Training to be Held at Conference
Put your leadership skills to work while helping area schools with their school improvement efforts by training to be an AdvancED Lead Evaluator (formerly known as “Quality Assurance Review Team Chair"). This two-day training will be Sunday and Tuesday, February 24 and February 26, 2013, in conjunction with the AdvancED Virginia conference on February 25-26 in Williamsburg at The Williamsburg Hospitality House.

The AdvancED External Review Training for Lead Evaluators prepares present and former school and central office administrators to lead External Review Teams (formerly known as Quality Assurance Review teams) using the AdvancED Standards for Quality and the new Accreditation Protocol. Upon completion of the training and serving as a member of an External Review team, Lead Evaluators are eligible to lead a review team within the AdvancED region.

External Review Lead Evaluators play an important role in verifying that a school is meeting the requirements for accreditation and in providing the school with valuable feedback to support its continuous improvement efforts. You will grow professionally through the learning that occurs during the review, the exposure to new ideas and practices, the collegial relationships that are built, and through the opportunity to have a positive impact on the school.

Effective immediately, all former chairs must complete the Lead Evaluator training in order to lead External Review teams.  Training participants may attend just the training, or the training along with Day 1 of the conference, for a special price.   See the Lead Evaluator Training tab at the top of the summary screen.   For more information and to register, Click here

ASSIST to Re-Shape School Improvement
AdvancED has launched a new innovation that will re-shape the continuous improvement process. AdvancED Adaptive System of School Improvement Support Tools (ASSIST) is the future of school improvement. ASSIST joins a world-class array of knowledge resources, practical implementation tools with interactive screens to create a fully integrated web-based system. This new technology can help schools ensure no compliance detail or improvement activity is missed during the improvement process. Districts, state agencies, and partner organizations also will benefit from ASSIST by harnessing the ability to aggregate and review, for the first time, how the practical work of school improvement is conducted at the local level. ASSIST allows schools and districts to gain a better understanding of past successes and opportunities and confidently build and implement a solid, research-based plan for the future.

Additionally, ASSIST is available to schools and school systems in the AdvancED network at no additional fee. The use of ASSIST is a part of the benefits of being accredited through AdvancED. ASSIST merges the entire accreditation and school improvement process end to end.

At AdvancED we believe that students must be prepared to succeed in a constantly-evolving and diverse world and educational institutions have a deep responsibility to deliver quality education to their students. We’re committed to helping educational providers of all types meet that responsibility by providing tools and resources like ASSIST.

We will keep you informed about ASSIST and the training that we will be offering on ASSIST in the coming year. In the meantime, if you have questions about ASSIST, please contact our office. We look forward to helping you re-shape school improvement. Please contact Hilda Kelly at hkelly@advanc-ed.org.
