March 18th Breakfast Meeting
Listen. Talk. Learn.
Carroll
The events that have transpired since August 9, 2014 after the shooting of Michael Brown, Jr. in Ferguson, Missouri have presented all of us - as neighbors, business leaders, educators, students, and concerned citizens - with the opportunity to step forward and increase understanding of race relations and what inclusion means to St. Louis. It is vital that our communities come together during this unstable time and in the future to ensure healthy communication, trust, and respect for those that live, work, and play in our region.

The Listen. Talk. Learn session will expose participants to the debate vs. dialogue framework, provide them with needed skills to practice dialogue, and help them understand a lived experience different than their own.

Embedded in the training are facts, figures, and activities that help participants explore stereotypes, biases, and the origins of discrimination. Specifically, the training includes racial demographic information, an overview on unconscious bias, and useful language when dialoguing.

In the Palm of Their Hand: Mobile Recruiting Strategies to Find Top Talent

Matt Adam
There is simply no denying the growing reach and impact of the smart phone. The mobile device is quickly becoming the go to mechanism for communication, news, social media and entertainment. It also has enormous potential in the recruiting sphere as well for those who embrace it. In this program, you will discover the power of mobile recruiting and learn how organizations are leveraging this new technology to attract, engage and capture the right talent.

The program format is hands on, interactive, and designed to provide you with ideas that can impact your organization immediately. We will examine and initiate discussion on the following:

  • Understand the power and potential of mobile recruiting
  • Identify unique tools and techniques organizations are using to effectively reach and attract the right candidates on-the-go
  • Understand how to build a short-term and long-term strategic mobile recruitment plan

This program has been approved for 1.25 hours of HR (General) HRCI Credit, and is eligible for 1.25 hours of SHRM Certification Credit.

Spring 2015 Mentoring Program

We are launching the HRMA Spring mentoring class. Applications to be either a mentor or protégé can be found on the HRMA website.

Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on March 20th. Return completed applications to Angela Louis via email (instructions are on the application).

Over the last several years, our protégé's have had a lot of success working with their mentors, gaining valuable career advice and guidance, as well as an expanded network with a seasoned HR professional. The program is intended to help HR professionals who have been in the field for at least six months and are looking for a 12 month partnership to focus on their career growth.

In addition to helping our protégés, we find mentors get a lot of satisfaction working with their protégés, seeing them grow and develop as HR professionals. Also, mentors have a chance to earn 5 HRCI credits serving as a mentor.

If you have any questions about the program, please fee free to contact Rik Nemanick at nemanick@leadership-effect.com or Angela Louis at alouis@simonlawpc.com.
