PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Hello MPI New England!

Welcome to the start of a new MPI year! I’m still riding high from welcoming everyone back to our first in-person event last month at Fenway Park and seeing both new and familiar faces. And (only when comfortable for both parties) hugging! After such a difficult year, it was wonderful to have the opportunity to come together to close out the year in celebration:

  • We congratulated our Award Winners (see complete listing in the "Missed the Meeting" section)
  • We thanked our outgoing Board Members, Kristy Burns and Gayle Gilberto, for their service and dedication

Kate Page
President
  • We inducted our 2021-2022 Board of Directors, Tom Fitzgerald, Amy Hubbard, Ellen Ouellette, Jodi Bolan, Johnice Veals, Bethany Murphy, Elena Barbera, Taylor Grinnell, Kate Sklarski, Joe Souza, Michele Yebba, Katie Butler, Hollie Herrick, Marjie Lane, Ainsley Onstott, and me, Kate Page
  • And we had a grand old time being together… did I mention in person?
The evening was a special one for me as I have the honor of serving you as President this term and we were able to do so in my home, Fenway Park. A shout out and my heartfelt thanks goes to my Red Sox and Aramark family for their support of me and MPI, and making the evening happen, including some wonderful surprises—how great was Grooversity with that drumline?! As always, many thanks to Next Level Promotions as our Awards Partner and David Fox Photographer, who was ready to jump back into the live action!

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE 2021
Planning is underway for this year's Educational Institute (EI). Join us for a day and a half of education, networking and celebration at Mohegan Sun on November 22-23. We are planning a hybrid event — an in-person and digital experience — that will allow you to participate in the way that works best for you.

We recently sent out a Call for Presenters. We are looking for innovative and passionate people to speak on various topics. If you have a presentation you would like to share with the MPINE community or know someone who would be a great speaker at EI, please send them our way! You can complete the application and submit your presentation ideas here.

 SUMMERIME FAVORITES
MPINE BOD 2021_cropped

2021-2022 Board of Directors

We asked our board members to share some of their favorite things about New England in the summertime. Here's what they had to say. Look for an upcoming social media post — we want to know your favorites, too!

Marjie Lane: To me, summer in New England means I have a choice of some of the most beautiful harbor towns in the world (and greatest seafood) within a two-hour drive! Very lucky!

Elena Barbera: I have two answers. 1) It’s pleasantly easy to park in the city because everyone else is at the Cape, Vineyard, or Nantucket. Ahhhh, sweet relief! 2) The North End feasts, especially the Flight of the Angels at the Fisherman’s Feast.
Kate Sklarski: My favorite thing about New England in the summer is visiting Cape Cod — Chatham to be specific. My go-to is Chatham Fish Pier for a lobster roll (voted the top 10 best in New England) watching the fishing boats come in, seeing the seals swim around them waiting for the daily catch. Catching rays on Nauset Beach. You can’t leave the Cape without getting a Dutch Apple pie from Marion’s on the way out. 😊
