PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Wow has this summer been HOT! Hopefully you are enjoying ways to cool off and relax with family and friends as we progress through the summer.

We kicked off our journey of “Growing Forward” with our July meeting where the Board and your Committee Chairs shared a year in review and goals for this coming year. I hope that all who attended found the information valuable and encouraging as our chapter continues to thrive.

I want to personally thank all of our sponsors both new and continuing. Without your support, the programs and events that you find so valuable would not be possible.

Speaking of events…On August 9th, we will have our monthly meeting at Croasdaile Country Club (new venue for us) featuring “Data! Data! Data!”.

In September, we will launch a new event with the Boys and Girls Club Work Week.  This is sure to be an outstanding community outreach event capped off with an ice cream social (my favorite) on Thursday, September 21st. More details are below and be sure to sign up if you haven’t already!

I look forward to seeing everyone in August and September and getting to know those of you whom I have not met.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB WORK WEEK

BAGC Work Week 2023

Please Join Us for a Meaningful Charity Work Week at the Boys & Girls Club!

On behalf of the IFMA Greater Triangle Chapter, we are excited to announce our upcoming Charity Work Week at the Boys & Girls Club taking place Monday, September 18th through Friday, September 22nd. We would like to extend a warm invitation to join us in making a positive impact in our community!

Throughout the week, we will be performing various maintenance & repair projects at the Boys & Girls Club Facilities located at 701 Raleigh Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27610. This includes The Teen Center, The Girls Club & The Boys Club. This is an excellent opportunity to give back, connect with like-minded individuals, and create lasting change together.

Here are a few ways you can get involved:

1. General Volunteer Opportunities for Professional Members: Join us for hands-on activities and we’ll pair you up with a selected associate volunteer team leader. Your time and effort can make a real difference in the lives of those in need.

2. Associate Members: Join us by using your industry expertise in the allotted categories needed. The Boys & Girls Clubs have limited funds therefore many of these items have not been able to get repaired as needed. We are asking for your help to donate your time & materials for specific repairs and maintenance to get these three facilities back into shape. They really need our hands-on experience so please sign up today and spread the word by encouraging your company, friends, and fellow colleagues throughout our organization to come help support this cause. Every contribution counts!

3. Community Outreach: Help us share this event on social media platforms and spread awareness about our cause. Together we can reach a wider audience and inspire more people to support our mission.

4. Sponsorship: We are hosting a Charity Work Week Ice Cream Truck Celebration Party with the kids and staff on Thursday, September 21st from 4:00-6:00pm. If you or your organization are interested in becoming a sponsor, we'd be delighted. Your support will ensure the success of our event and enable us to make a greater impact.

By participating in this event, you are directly contributing to the Boys & Girls Club’s ongoing efforts to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Together, we can create positive change and improve the lives of those in need by helping to make their facilities a safe place.

To learn more about our Charity Work Week and how you can get involved, please reference the google signup sheet below. This includes inspection reports for each facility & specific details for projects in need of repairs.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB WORK WEEK SPREADSHEET

A pre-construction onsite meeting will be conducted the week of August 21st. Time & Date - TBD. Volunteers will be notified beforehand and are welcome to attend to help everyone prepare logistics and material orders that may need to be made prior to the assigned September work dates.

Please feel free to contact the Outreach Committee Chairs if you have any additional questions:

Cory Barns:  Cell (919) 920-8376  or cbarns@redcoats.com

Holly Bowers:  Cell (919) 274-1211 or holly@roofwerks.com

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB LETTER OF THANKS FOR "ADOPT A ROOM"

BGC_logo

IFMA Team,

I hope this finds you doing well!  I am excited to tell you about what your room 245 has been up to since last July when you adopted it.

Since last July, the House has served 1327 families, but your room 245 has helped 23 of those families provide 368 nights of lodging and care.    The top three specialties of families that stayed in your room were being treated in the cardiothoracic, gastroenterology, and neurosurgery units.   The longest stay in room 245 was 171 nights.

On behalf of those families who came to stay in room 245, we wanted to share our great thanks for helping us ensure that every family, regardless of financial standing, was able to find a place that had all the comforts of home while only one mile away from UNC Children's Hospital. From meals, to transportation, to a clean hotel style room, to fun activities and play spaces, to a community of families with similar challenges, you helped to make their journey a little easier.

Also, I wanted to let you know that as of July 1st merged with our sister house in Durham and changed our name to RMHC of the Triangle.  We are excited to still offer all our current program locations and will be working hard with our hospital partners to explore ways we can do more to serve families.

If you have any questions, please reach out!

 Best,

Cathy Hall
