Salon Night: Art, Science & the Cosmic Connection

Thursday, Jan. 12, 5:30-7:30pm

How do art and science connect, cosmically speaking?Artist Monica Petty Aiello, whose work is inspired by planetary surfaces, will be joined by Hebrew typographer Martin Mendelsberg, an artist inspired by the relationships between Jewish mysticism, mathematics and music for an out-of-this-world discussion! First Person Writing Workshop

Sunday, Jan. 15, 10am-2pm

Begin 2012 with this inspirational workshop for anyone who wants to begin writing or has enjoyed writing in the past and would like to begin again. Join Daniela Uslan, a devoted creative writing teacher, for a renewing, fun workshop designed to help access your writing voice and get your creative juices flowing. Bridging the wise and the curious, this program inspires middle and high school students to stand up and make a difference. Living Word Architect, community builder and youth advocate, Adrian Molina returns as host of this extraordinary program, with three outstanding civil and human rights activists: Carlotta Walls LaNier of the Little Rock Nine, Helen Giron and Sheldon Steinhauser. Join a diverse group of community members for community Shabbat dinner at the Mizel Museum. It will be an artsy evening with candle lighting, exhibit tours, music, a delicious meal and plenty of meaning. CLICK here for reservations.

Salon Night: To Bear Witness Part I

Thursday, February 16, 5:30pm

Join us for a preview of the Generations: Survivor Stories collection, to be launched as part of the permanent exhibit in 2012. Generations digital stories are short documentaries about community members who survived the Shoah, along with their children and/or grandchildren. Stories will be screened, followed by an open discussion with storytellers Renee Krakowski, Don Krakowski, Gerard Rosenthal, Alla Shcherbina, and Joan Wallis. Painting with Boris Shoshensky

Well-known master painter and professor Boris Shoshensky teaches concepts and techniques for all levels. Day classes held on Tuesdays; late afternoon classes on Wednesdays. To register email Tia or call (303) 749-5018.

Restorative Hatha Yoga

Enjoy a gentle, strengthening, restorative yoga class in the peaceful and inspiring setting of the Mizel Museum's exhibit. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 5:15-6:45pm. Price per class is $18; pay at the door.

Jewish Meditation with Rabbi Stephen Booth Nadav

Sundays, January 15 & 29, 4:30-6pm

Meditation is the practice of making ordinary moments sacred, or finding the sacred in the ordinary. Join Rabbi Steve to develop the skills of Jewish mindfulness including meditation instruction, chanting, walking, Torah and text study. All levels and backgrounds welcome. Drop-in class; donations on site.
