January 2021
A Message from Chapter President, Mike Wescott
|
Dear friends,
We are off to a great start for 2021. We have so many good and positive things to look forward to in the coming 12 months. I’ve heard it said that 2020 is out the window and better things will happen in 2021. But I am sure you will agree that 2020 was not all bad. We learned how to do things in a new way, how to connect with people virtually and most importantly that the relationships we had established were very important to us in times of a pandemic.

For 2021 – what’s ahead?
First, I’d like to welcome 11 new members from our Membership Scholarship this past year. We are excited to have them in the Greater Wichita Chapter and I would like to ask each of you to reach out to welcome them if you can.
1. Christina Bluml, Bishop Carroll Catholic High School
2. Denise Sherman, The Kansas African American Museum
3. Michael Cayless, Project Access
4. Joe Rodriguez, Holy Savior Catholic Academy
5. Carol Hughes, Kansas Food Bank
6. Will Rapp, Social Innovation Laboratory
7. Nick Veith, Step Stone
8. Natalie Rolfe, Down Syndrome Society
9. Micaela Ramirez, Kansas Hispanic Education and Development Foundation
10. Connor Meier, WSU Foundation
11. Suzannah Bowden, Rise Up For Youth
I had a Zoom call recently with them and was very impressed with the talent and experience that they each bring to the Chapter.
After the meeting, I was reflecting on how much I enjoyed seeing their faces and learning more about each of them. And given that, at least for the short term, all our interactions will be virtual, I asked Bridget Mersmann, our Chapter Admin., to work on creating a picture directory of sorts of our chapter members. This could possibly live on our web site and even under a members' only section. My thinking is that this could help us connect such that when we can get together someday soon, we will already know a bit about each other.
Bridget will be reaching out to you in February to create this, so please look for a simple picture that you feel comfortable sharing with the group.
Wishing you a great start to the New Year!
Mike Wescott, CFRE
