Welcome
Over the last few weeks many members of the University community have joined together to celebrate the fantastic contributions of our longest serving Chancellor - the Honourable Leneen Forde AC DUniv - who retired from the role at the end of May.
As Chancellor since June 2000, Leneen played a vital role in the life of the University and will be warmly remembered for her generous spirit, her inherent kindness, and for her unshakeable commitment to social justice, equity and fairness, particularly for women and for the disadvantaged in the community.
In recognition of her distinguished service, the Chancellery building at the Gold Coast campus has been renamed the "Leneen Forde Chancellery". And in light of the Chancellor's close association with the Logan campus (and her status as the No. 1 fan of the Griffith Logan Redbacks rugby league team), the sports field at the Logan campus has been named the "Leneen Forde Sports Field".
Leneen was also a great supporter of Friends of the Library and I look forward to welcoming her at future events. I also look forward to welcoming our new friends of the library at our upcoming events.

And, not only will it house 1150 vehicles over four floors it will also be a new home for microbats and native bees.
