The International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (IACFS/ME) - an organization of researchers, clinicians and other interested professionals - invites your research abstract or workshop proposal for possible presentation at our June 2020 international conference, to be held at Stony Brook University on beautiful eastern Long Island, known for its quaint seaside villages, beaches, arts, and cultural events!
We especially welcome submissions from early-stage and new investigators as well as people from groups which have been historically under-represented in science. Conference scholarships covering travel, accommodations, and conference registration fees may be available for selected participants. Please click on the Research Abstract Submission Instructions tab for more details.
Topics
Our conference focuses on all biomedical and behavioral aspects of chronic fatigue syndrome/ myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) and common co-morbidities of CFS/ME (e.g., fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, sleep apnea, orthostatic intolerance). Also encouraged are abstracts on fatigue in medical conditions (e.g., cancer, lupus, multiple sclerosis, pain conditions, and circulatory diseases) and life circumstances (e.g., aging, poor sleep, athletics and sports, occupations). Oral and poster sessions will address advances in pathophysiology, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and public health.
We also anticipate sessions covering medical education, career development, and public health policy. Workshops focus on clinical practice, professional development or research skills/techniques/grant writing. Paper and poster sessions allow researchers, practitioners, policy advocates and students at all levels to freely exchange ideas and build networks.
Attendees
Attendees to IACFS/ME conferences are primarily biomedical and behavioral professionals, including clinicians, researchers, and educators. Continuing medical education credits will be available for eligible program components. The School of Medicine, State University of New York at Stony Brook, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians and will designate the number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) ™ to be awarded for physician participation in this activity.
