30th CRC Real World Emissions Workshop

About the Workshop

The 30th CRC Real World Workshop has been rescheduled!

When: Sunday, August 23 through Wednesday, August 26th, 2020
Where: Hyatt Regency Mission Bay, San Diego

We understand that there is still uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. We remain optimistic that the rescheduled 30th workshop will be held as currently planned with as close to the original program as possible. We will continue to monitor the situation, and will adjust registration availability accordingly.

In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to seeing you later this year.

What happens to my current registration?
If you have kept your registration, it will automatically be applied to the new dates. If you are unable to attend, please contact rbougher@crcao.org to cancel your registration for a full refund.

What if I already cancelled my registration?
We expect to re-open registration in early May. Hotel details and reservation links will be shared at that time.

What if I was scheduled to present?
Our goal is to keep the same program, and we will be reaching out to each speaker in the near future. We recognize that there still may be a lot of uncertainty, particularly from our international speakers, and will remain flexible as we work through updates to the program.

UPDATE MARCH 6, 2020 - Due to ongoing concerns and corporate travel restrictions, we are extending our cancellation deadline.  Cancellations made by midnight, Tuesday, March 10 will receive a full refund.

Coronavirus Update

CRC is monitoring the developments of Coronavirus in the U.S., and is reviewing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for best practices at events. At this time, there are no CDC recommended domestic travel restrictions.

We encourage all Workshop participants to follow preventative actions recommended by the CDC,  including:

  • Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, particularly before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • Stay home if you are feeling unwell or have signs of a fever.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, and throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

The inaugural CRC Emissions workshop convened as the “CRC-APRAC Vehicle Emissions Modeling Workshop” on October 30 and 31,1990.  It was the first time that representatives from government agencies, universities, automotive and oil industries, and consulting and testing firms active in examining vehicle emissions inventories were assembled in one location.  117 participants engaged in discussions and twenty speakers presented in four technical sessions including EMFAC7 and MOBILE4 Models, Model Evaluations, Laboratory Vehicle Emissions Studies, and On-road Emissions Studies.

In three decades of annual events,  the Real World Emissions Workshop has grown into an international event, hosting over 250 participants representing more than a dozen countries.  Its 30-year history has spanned an era where the public has benefited from large reductions in vehicle tailpipe emissions, brought about by improvements in emissions control technologies and fuels, leading to demonstrable improvements in air quality.  The 2020 workshop celebrates 30 years of research and continues to evolve in response to research needs. The 2020 workshop returns to the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay in San Diego, CA, which hosted the meeting for over 20 years.  Topics areas this year are expected to include novel and new research in:

  • Air Quality
  • Emissions Modeling
  • Off-Road / Nonroad Emissions
  • Emissions Measurement Methods
  • Fuel Effects on Exhaust Emissions
  • Improving the Emissions Inventory
  • Particulate Emissions and Measurement
  • Emissions Control Measures (I/M) and OBD
  • In-Use Emissions for Light- and Heavy-Duty Vehicles
  • Non-Tailpipe Emissions
  • Sensors and New Technology

CRC welcomes your participation on March 15 -18, 2020, to celebrate the 30-year Anniversary of the CRC Real World Emissions Workshop.
