The Young Scientists Forum (YSF) of the International Society of Biofabrication (ISBF) is open to all student and Postdoctoral Researcher attendees of Biofabrication 2019. The three YSF events planned for Biofabrication 2019 are described here. YSF members are encouraged to use the meeting app, communications table, and corkboard. Year-round, all ISBF members are encouraged to follow the ISBF Twitter (https://twitter.com/ISBioFab) and LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/8453786).
Date: Monday, October 21st
Location: Performance Hall, Ohio Union
Time: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
YSF attendees of Biofabrication 2019 are invited to a working lunch with Dr. Wei Sun in a private space on Monday October 21st. Dr. Sun is The Albert Soffa Chair Professor at Drexel University and Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University. Among his many accomplishments have been serving as the Founding President of the ISBF and the inaugural and current Editor-in-Chief of the journal Biofabrication. Attendees will enjoy lunch while meeting Dr. Sun and learning about the field of biofabrication, Dr. Sun’s career, and the society’s journal, Biofabrication.
Location: Chumley's, 1516 N High St, Columbus, OH 43201.
Time: 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Following Monday’s conference events, YSF attendees are invited to a reception specifically geared towards young investigators (students and postdocs). Attendees will take a short walk from the conference location at the Ohio Union to a nearby venue for the evening’s activities. First, a “shark tank” style event will be held, during which YSF attendees can “pitch” their own novel research ideas and inspiration to a panel of biofabrication investigators to receive on the spot feedback. This event will then transition to an informal networking and social event during which attendees can mingle and enjoy food and drink.
Date: Tuesday, October 22nd
This event will be a working lunch in a private space on Tuesday October 22nd. The scientific field of biofabrication, which spans tissue engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, cell biology, 3D printing, and other research areas, came to fruition on the shoulders of many crucial innovators. At the “Meet the Legends” event at Biofabrication 2019, YSF attendees will have an opportunity to meet a number of these innovators as well as academic faculty and industry investigators with significant accomplishments in the field of biofabrication.
