Jarislowsky Fraser
Aaron Bennett joined Jarislowsky Fraser in 2014 and has more than 16 years of investment experience. As Managing Director, Sustainable Investment Strategy and Research, Aaron is committed to supporting the continuous improvement of systemic and robust integration of material ESG factors into the investment analysis across all portfolios and asset classes. In addition, he is tasked with advising and supporting the Investment Strategy Committee in broader policy formulation and implementation.
Aaron is also a member of the firm’s Sustainable Investment Committee, and helps support the coordination of sustainable investing activities and the development of ESG tools across the firm. Prior to joining Jarislowsky Fraser, Aaron worked for the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in a variety of related roles for the Natural Resources sector, including the co-management of a private energy and timberland portfolio. He also served on the boards of many private investee companies in the energy space and was a founding and active member of the organization’s Responsible Investing Committee. Aaron also previously worked for a number of mid-sized Canadian boutique investment banks as an equity research analyst covering Health Care and Biotechnology.
He was a member of the Advisory Committee for the PRI-coordinated collaborative global engagement on methane ‎risk and the Responsible Investment Association’s Toronto Steering Committee. Aaron currently sits on the Advisory Board of the Embedding Project and the Environmental & Social Committee of the CCGG.

Judy Cotte

Judy is the CEO of ESG Global Advisors, a firm that bridges the gap between companies and investors on environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. With over 20 years’ legal experience, the last 10 of which has been exclusively focused on ESG, Judy is a globally recognized expert on ESG and responsible investment. Prior to forming ESG Global Advisors, Judy was V.P. & Head of Corporate Governance & Responsible Investment for RBC Global Asset Management (“RBC GAM”) and was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Judy launched the Corporate Governance & Responsible Investment group at RBC GAM in 2012 and was responsible for developing the firm’s overall ESG strategy, working with the investment teams to integrate ESG into the investment process, overseeing all proxy voting globally and engaging with investee companies, both individually and collaboratively with other investors. Previously, Judy was the Director of Policy Development & Chief Operating Officer for the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance (“CCGG”), a coalition of most of Canada’s largest institutional investors. Judy has a Master's degree in securities law and practiced law in various capacities, including as enforcement counsel with the OSC, litigation counsel with a large broker/dealer and as a partner in a Bay Street law firm. Judy is a Board Advisor to Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group. She is a current member of the TSX Listings Advisory Group, the CCGG Public Policy Committee and the UN PRI’s Global Policy Reference Group. She was previously the Canada Correspondent for the International Corporate Governance Network.

Sue is CFA Society Toronto’s Chief executive Officer and leads the Society’s strategic direction which includes promoting high ethical standards in the financial industry and increasing the visibility of the charter with key partners in the financial community. An experienced and successful investment executive in fixed income markets Sue formed MSL Advisory Corp in 2008. Through-out her career Sue has held progressively senior roles at Canada Trust, CT Investment Counsel, Nesbitt Thomson, and CIBC World Markets. Sue led her team at CIBC to a #1 ranking in the Greenwich sales survey. Sue is a Past President of the Society and has been an active volunteer for the past 20 years, notably mentoring young industry professionals. Sue is a cum laude graduate of Ryerson Business Management and earned her charter in 1989.

Sarah Keyes

With a decade of diverse experience as a thought leader, consultant and auditor, Sarah is a recognized voice on the financial impacts of ESG issues for the Canadian business community. She is a speaker, author and facilitator on the impacts of climate change risks and opportunities on governance, strategy, risk management and performance. In her previous role at CPA Canada, she developed research and guidance on climate change issues and implications for business decision-making, reporting and oversight. Sarah received the 2018 Emerging Leader Award from CPA Ontario for her innovative work in climate change and sustainability for the accounting profession.​ In obtaining her Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) designation, Sarah was an auditor in the mining and extractives sector at PricewaterhouseCoopers and an energy sector consultant at MNP. Her clients included global mining companies, oil and gas producers, electric utilities, government agencies and provincial regulators. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting with distinction from McGill University. She is certified in ISO 14064-3: Greenhouse Gas Verification and Validation. She also volunteers on the Board of Directors of Leading Change and the University of Toronto’s Environmental Finance Advisory Committee.

Hyewon Kong is Vice President, Head of Responsible Investing at the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO), which manages over $70bn of Ontario public-sector pension funds, where she leads Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and sustainable investing strategies across all asset classes. With over 20 years of experience in both corporate and investment management in Asia, Europe and North America, Hyewon has been an ambassador of sustainable investing as an experienced portfolio manager and a subject matter expert on ESG.
Hyewon co-founded and co-chairs Canadian Responsible Investment Working Group and has been named to Canada’s 2020 Clean 50 leaders for creating broad collaborations in the Canadian financial industry to drive a sustainability agenda. Hyewon serves on the Board of Directors of the University of British Columbia (UBC) Investment Management Trust and on the Environmental Finance Advisory Committee at the University of Toronto and lectures on environmental finance and sustainable & impact investment courses.

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan

Deborah heads the Plan’s Responsible Investing team and develops and leads the Plan’s Responsible Investing Strategy and Climate Change initiatives. Prior to this, Deborah was part of the Strategy & Asset Mix team where she focused on the research, evaluation, and introduction of innovative asset allocation strategies that are designed to help meet the Plan’s long-term liability objectives. Deborah received her Master of Finance from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and is a CFA charter holder.
