Topic #1: Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)
Department of Defense (DOD) contractors have been feverishly working over the latter stages of 2017 to understand and comply with new Cybersecurity requirements that require compliance by Dec 31, 2017. This new mandate known as Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requires the protection of Controlled Technical Information (CTI) or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and swift notification of data breaches involving this information. This presentation will discuss the following:
· What is DFARS
· What is CTI/CUI
· Who is impacted by DFARS
· What are the requirements of DFARS
· What security controls are needed for compliance
· The possible financial impact on contractors to comply
· The possible consequences for non-compliance
· How some prime contractors are piling additional Cybersecurity onto subcontractors
Speaker: Collin Freebourne Jr, CISSP, CISA, SANS GCIH, SANS GCFE (Bio is located under the "Speakers" tab):
Topic #2: Auditing Laptop Life Cycle Management
One of the more overlooked IT audit areas is the acquisition & disposal of computers. While not as glamorous as cybersecurity, there are many financial and data loss risks residing in this area. This presentation will cover the areas that should be looked into (and what you might stumble across) for the end-to-end processes of planning, acquiring, provisioning, tracking, retrieving, and disposing of laptops.
