ServSafe Retest

Food Service Worker

ServSafe® Retest is for individuals who have completed the ServSafe® course and need to retake the proctored exam. Participants who complete the multiple-choice exam with a score of 75% or better will receive a ServSafe® certification, which meets the PDA requirement for food safety certification.

Instructors will work with each individual registrant to schedule a time and location for the retake exam.

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) requires that every retail food service operation have at least one employee who holds a "nationally recognized food safety manager certification" such as ServSafe®. Further, a certified person must be available during all hours of the operation (they do not need to be present, but accessible). To receive and maintain certification, all individuals are required to pass a certification exam every five (5) years.

Penn State encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about the physical access provided, please call or e-mail the contact person for the course.
