Brazil’s National Monetary Council (CMN) Approves Real Estate Financing Reform

(Reuters) Brazil’s National Monetary Council (CMN) has approved the biggest reform in real estate financing rules since the adoption of the fiduciary alienation instrument two decades ago. Banks now have an incentive to provide financing to buyers of houses valued at R$500k or less. In Brazil’s largest cities, there was also an increase in the current cap for home buyers who intend to use the Housing Finance System (SFH). Home buyers can now receive financing for homes valued at R$1.5m, up from R$950k. Read more
