ACC TN Q2 Newsletter | June 2025
Message from the President
This has been a milestone year for me, personally and professionally, for many reasons.  This spring marked twenty five years since I graduated law school, and this fall will mark twenty years with Asurion. My younger son graduated high school this spring, and this fall will bring an empty nest. I’ll dance right past the big birthday I celebrated this past December. When I reflect back on these last twenty five years, one of the constants has been the presence of incredible mentors in my professional and personal life. I am full of gratitude for those who shared their journeys with me, helping guide my decisions and shape the person and leader that I have become.I’ve also been honored over the later portion of my career to serve as a mentor to attorneys within my company and through my connections with legal organizations like ACC Tennessee. As we continue this year to highlight those resources and connections that are valuable during Career Transitions, I want to encourage each of you to seek out mentors, serve as mentors, and thank those who have served as your mentors. Additionally, there are great resources through ACC Global for mentorship, including the ACC Mentor Match program.

Message from the Executive Director
In December, ACC Tennessee applied for an ACC Global grant related to Career Transitions, in response to the evolving legal landscape and to build on our New to In House Programming launched in 2023. We kicked off this programming with a virtual session from our Career Transitions Sponsor Latitude Legal on navigating career transitions with confidence and clarity (replay available). We had incredible virtual and live attendance at our flagship MBA in a Half Day program that was held at Barnes & Thornburgs office in Nashville, including the opportunity for attendees to take new headshots to update their LinkedIn Profiles. Our N2i Committee is actively planning great programming for Friday, August 15, 2025 that will be live in Brentwood and also available virtually. Stay tuned as we work on more programming related to resume tools and career succession planning.
We'd like to highlight the ACC Global resources for Career Transitions. The ACC Global Career Corner provides networking, masterclass programming and job listings for those evaluating their career options. Additionally, ACC Global offers a program to waive dues up to one year while you are navigating a career transition. ACC Tennessee and ACC Global also have resources for those looking to grow their legal department and recruit new talent—reach out to our Executive Director with opportunities to share in our newsletter and within our network.

How long have you been in-house?
I have been in-house at LP Building Solutions for three and a half years. Before then, I practiced at Butler Snow and clerked for a Federal Judge

How long have you been a member of ACC?
As long as I've been in-house!
Tell us about a recent trip you've taken.
I usually like “sit in a beach chair and don’t move for a week” vacations to relax from the go-go-go nature of work and life.  My husband and I recently went to Grand Cayman and loved it!  I’m switching things up this fall and going to Paris with one of my best friends.  I know it won’t be the most zen of vacations, but it’s a dream girls trip!
Thank you to our members statewide who joined us for the terrific events and programming we have hosted in 2025. We are excited for all of the great events and programming that we still have planned for the remainder of 2025. We could not do it without the partnership from all of our wonderful sponsors.

Public Interest & Advocacy
When the term “conservatorship” comes up, what often comes to mind is the care and protection of our elderly population. However, each year, people who care for children with disabilities face the complications of continuing that care when the child turns eighteen. Legal Aid of East Tennessee, in partnership with Husch Blackwell and now also with ACC Tennessee, is helping to meet that need by providing pro bono representation for caregivers needing to obtain letters of conservatorship for young adults. In early March, LAET and Husch Blackwell generously provided training and forms for ACC Tennessee attorneys to be able to volunteer in this area of critical need. Shortly after, our own Charles Sereebutra, a transactional in-house attorney at CBL Properties, took on his first LAET conservatorship case for a grandmother caring for her disabled 19 year old granddaughter. Charles met with the client, filed the pleadings, and represented the client in a hearing in June before Chancellor Fleenor. The family was incredibly grateful for Charles’ effort, and Charles has already agreed to mentor the next ACC Tennessee member ready to take on a case. Thank you, Charles!
