Applications Open for the 2018 Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards

Long considered one of the must-attend events for businesses in the Washington region, the Northern Virginia Chamber’s Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards honor individuals, businesses and non-profits for above-and-beyond business leadership, employee engagement, and corporate social responsibility. Please note the application questions and/or process are subject to change from year to year. Finalists and winners are announced at the Awards event on Wednesday, June 13. New Event: Who’s In? Featuring Joe Lunardi
The Northern Virginia Chamber presents Joe Lunardi, Bracketologist for ESPN. Joe is well known for his predictions of “who’s in and who’s out” for the annual NCAA Basketball Tournament. He is known for creating Bracketology, which he calls the "art and science" of predicting the teams that will be selected in the annual NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Joe regularly appears on ESPN’s SportsCenter in the run up to the Tournament and received millions of hits on his predictions website. The Northern Virginia Chamber is pleased to present Joe during the week prior to the tournament field announcement. Following the announcement of the tournament field on March 11th, the Chamber will also host an NCAA Tournament Pool where proceeds from the event will be used to a charity of the winner’s choice. ACT I Awarded a $60M Contract to Provide DHS CBP with Enterprise Program Management Office Support
Advanced Concepts and Technologies International, LLC (ACT I), was awarded a $60 million Task Order under its GSA OASIS Small Business Pool 1 contract to provide the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Information Technology (OIT) with Enterprise-level Program Management Office (ePMO) Services to seven CBP OIT program directorates. Specifically, this contract includes the following services: finance, acquisition, wireless systems support, asset management, investment management, executive administration, logistics, human resources, project management, program management, and surge support. Veterans Affairs Senior Advisor to the Secretary Joins PenFed Credit
PenFed Credit Union announced Matthew S. Collier as the new Vice President for Business Development. In this role, Mr. Collier will contribute to the strategic growth of the credit union through the development of new business opportunities and through targeted membership growth within current strategic business relationships, focusing on military, military associations, defense contractors, and federal agencies. Mr. Collier joins PenFed from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs where he served as Senior Advisor to the Secretary. Among his many accomplishments was the development and launch of the VA Center for Strategic Partnerships with the purpose of developing sustainable partnerships to improve the lives of veterans and their families. Emergency Medical Care Takes to New Heights with PropelUAS™
PropelUAS™, a division of Evans Incorporated, announced that it is partnering with Medical Express Ambulance Service (MedEx) in the unveiling of a high-tech “Concept Ambulance” that integrates Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), or “drones,” into its collection of life saving technologies. The concept vehicle will be displayed at the upcoming 2018 Chicago Auto Show, this February. PropelUAS™ is providing UAS-related expertise to determine the benefits and the future of UAS integration with traditional apparatuses used in the emergency response vehicles. Together with MedEx, the team is addressing numerous challenges, such as the ideal drone configuration for this integration, operational considerations for emergency response, and navigation of airspace regulations. PropelUAS™ is collaborating with Lockheed Martin and MedEx to combine the very best elements of emergency management systems with the potential of tactical UAS. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington’s Fairfax Region will be hosting the 5th Annual Casino Night on Friday, April 27 from 6-10PM at Volkswagen Group of America Headquarters. Terry Boston, PE, joins Dewberry Board of Directors

Executive Chairman Barry K. Dewberry and Dewberry Chief Executive Officer Donald E. Stone, Jr., announced the confirmation of Terry Boston, PE, to Dewberry’s board of directors. Boston currently runs a consultancy focused on power supply planning, cybersecurity, transmission, and renewables development and storage. At the end of 2015, he retired from PJM Interconnection, L.L.C. where he served as president and chief executive officer for eight years. To read a full press release, click here.
