At WHA, we take advantage of adding volume for our members by developing programs with other networks, such as the California Critical Access Hospital Network (CCAHN). CCAHN began using HealthTechS3 to conduct mock surveys for accreditation readiness and has provided strong support for the program. "I'm a pretty quiet person, but if you know me, you know I'm an open book." Nick Goshe has been leading the Rangely District Hospital for eight years after living in Ohio most of his life. He grew up on a small farm in Tiffin, Ohio and became an emergency technician as soon as he graduated high school. His father was a truck driver for the State of Ohio and his mother was a school teacher. They farmed on the side, raising corn, wheat, soybeans and some farm animals. read more

Aspen Valley Hospital, Animas Surgical Hospital, and Yampa Valley Medical Center were ranked among the best in a national survey that reviewed communication evaluations from patients on their hospital nurses. The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey reviewed CMS Hospital Compare data for one-year period ending in March 2016. read article

Yampa Valley Medical Center was recently named as one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics. The Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals is the most comprehensive, academically driven study of its kind. It evaluates clinical and operational performance in 11 areas. Valley View Hospital Receives $400k Gift for Nurse Education

The gift, made through Pete and Sondra Welles' family foundation, the Beaufort Foundation, supports Valley View Nurses in pursuing bachelor's and advanced degrees, achieving specialty-specific certifications and continuing their training and education. read more

HRRMC Receives Final Medicare Approval for Dialysis Unit

The centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) recently granted final approval for a hospital-based renal dialysis center at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC).

The unit is owned by HRRMC but managed by Sanderling Renal Services. Sanderling specializes in bringing high-quality dialysis and nephrology services to rural communities. read more
