Dear Colleagues,
Lynne Wester lived up to her Donor Relation guru title. An awesome combination of knowledgeable and hilarious, she shared tips and tricks to amp up our donor relations. Thank you to all of our Fundraising Leadership Symposium attendees. Locally, we have an exciting new way for you to strengthen your donor relations and stewardship efforts, and recognize someone special on National Philanthropy Day!
The Community Champions program will launch this year at National Philanthropy Day. This is an exclusive opportunity for AFP-HR members to recognize a donor or volunteer who makes a difference to you or your organization. Community Champions will be acknowledged at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon on November 12, 2019, in the event program and during the event presentation. This is a wonderful way to recognize and steward those who have helped your cause in a meaningful way. Each AFP-HR member may recognize one person or couple. Don't miss out on this special stewardship opportunity. Please see additional information below.

Crafting Your Story
Speaker: Jane Stein, President of JPS Consulting
Join AFP Hampton Roads to learn how to get your nonprofit’s stories noticed, in the increasingly loud and busy non-profit sector! Attendees will learn what makes a compelling story, how to create a culture of storytelling in your organization, and how to share that story effectively, so your donors are excited and engaged. This essential but humorous session is guaranteed to have every participant ready, willing, and very able to go out and captivate to groups large and small.
Jane Stein has been providing consultation and training services to nonprofit organizations for more than twenty years. Jane has guided nonprofits through the process of strategic planning, board/staff retreats, and all areas of fundraising. She has given keynote addresses, motivational speeches and training workshops throughout the US. Jane shares her secrets for success in these turbulent times, inspiring her clients and her audiences to solve challenges in the nonprofit sector in a humorous and heartfelt manner. Jane has an M.B.A., and became licensed to offer consulting services for the Standards for Excellence® program, and is a Certified Master Trainer through AFP International.

AFP Hampton Roads Chapter is seeking board candidates to join chapter leaders in running our growing chapter of 200+ members.
Here's a few things you need to know:
• Each nominee must be an AFP member in good standing (i.e. your membership is current);
• You agree to follow the Board Roles & Responsibilities (see attached);
• You have served or are serving on a committee (if you are not on a committee and are interested in board service - get involved today!);
• You are willing to help make our chapter even better;
• As with any volunteer opportunity, you'll need to dedicate time and effort;

If you’d like to learn more about AFP-HR Board leadership, please reach out to Laurie Harrison, Past President and Nominating Chair, Nicole Pellegrino, President, and/or any other board member.
