Capital Region Workforce Summit is ONE WEEK AWAY!
The Northern Virginia Chamber, in cooperation with the Greater Washington Partnership, invites you to the Capital Region Workforce Summit – a conversation with top leaders in the business community that will address the most pressing issues affecting our region’s workforce on Wednesday, December 5 from 8:30 – 11:00 AM at the Inova Conference Center in Fairfax. Despite the critical role that human capital plays in business outcomes, it has struggled to gain and retain its seat at the executive table. Even with one of the most educated populations in the United States, firms of all sizes in the Capital Region are struggling to recruit, develop, and retain the talent they need. The featured keynote panel, moderated by Jason Miller, Chief Executive Officer, Greater Washington Partnership, includes: Alison Corazzini, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Capital One and Paul Feeko, Global and Americas Chief Talent Development Officer, Ernst & Young LLP. Loudoun Hunger Relief, Staged Interior and Buhl Electric Company Recognized with
HomeAid Northern Virginia Presidents’ Circle Awards
HomeAid Northern Virginia (HANV) recognized local businesses, nonprofits and individuals for positive community impact and serving vulnerable families in the Northern Virginia region with its 2018 Presidents’ Circle Awards. HomeAid, a nonprofit that renovates homeless shelters and supportive housing facilities via the donated expertise, labor and resources of local homebuilders, presented the following awards at its 17th Annual Gala & Auction on Nov. 10th at Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg. Loudoun Impact Fund Grants $125,000 to Local Nonprofit Organizations
Local donors and nonprofit leaders gathered today at Integrus Holdings as The Loudoun Impact Fund awarded $125,000 in grants to 16 nonprofit organizations serving Loudoun County. NVFS Among First to Receive Grant from Bezos Day 1 Families Fund to End Family Homelessness in Northern Virginia
The Day 1 Families Fund announced it will invest $2.5 million in Northern Virginia Family Service’s (NVFS) efforts to end family homelessness in the region. The grant will help fund NVFS’ unwavering people-centric approach to continue to pursue solutions to family homelessness. Funding from the grant will go toward housing after shelter and providing families with services, skills training and job support needed in transitioning to and remaining in permanent housing. This Thanksgiving was expected to be the busiest for travelers since 2005 with more than 54 million Americans making plans to journey 50 miles or more away from home for the holiday, according to AAA’s 2018 Thanksgiving Holiday Forecast. In an installation that will last 13 months, Kaiser Permanente has created an educational, visual experience wrapping concourses, walkways and terminals with inspirational messages to encourage travelers to stretch, be active and relieve stress through simple exercises.
