Dear readers:
Happy birthday, Wisconsin: You’ve aged well
At a time when some iconic gatherings are being cancelled or delayed, including the Wisconsin State Fair for the first time in 75 years, it’s important to remember the state has weathered hard times in the past … Civil War deaths that topped 12,000, the Peshtigo fire, two World Wars, the Great Recession and more. From its statehood in 1848 until now, Wisconsin has both prospered and persevered. So, happy 172nd! Here’s hoping No. 173 is a little more normal.
