| | | The Primary is almost over; just three more to go. Next we can start preparing for the Presidential Preference Primary and Spring Election on April 2nd. Remember that March 29th is Good Friday, but it is also the last day of in-person absentee voting and voter registration. | | There have been some changes happening in WMCA in recent years. The biggest change last year was that our previous management company, F.A.C.T.S. LLC , did not renew their contract at the end of 2022 and we contracted with Association Executives Group, LLC (AEG). | | AEG is our professional management team. Just like Faith, AEG is not an employee of WMCA; we have a contract for services with the company. So, every time a member contacts AEG we are billed. Our contract is for billable hours. Just like your municipal attorney, every time you call it costs money. Our municipal budgets have been tightening and so has WMCA’s budget. We need to be more conscience of our spending. | | In 2023 WMCA went over on contract hours with AEG. Part of this was due to learning WMCA’s computer programs, but also it was manually entering membership renewals and responding/forwarding phone calls and emails from members. So going forward, I am asking members, if you have a question reach out to the committee chairperson, (hyper-links are on the website https://www.wisclerks.org/committees), a board member, or list-serv. Please don’t call AEG. Update your membership online, don’t send in a hard copy. These are two ways we can cut down on billable hours. | | Another upcoming change, the board is researching a new list-serv. The current system is outdated, there is no longer any customer support, and a lot of things need to be done manually (this increases our billable hours with AEG). We are hoping to have a new system early in 2024. | | Something that hasn’t changed are the scholarships that are offered by WMCA. The scholarship application for the IIMC Conference is due March 22 and the application for UWGB Clerks Institute is due April 12. Get your applications in soon! | | If you are working on obtaining your WCMC or WCPC the deadline for getting your application in is March 1. There will be another chance to apply in fall. If you have questions about the application, please contact a member of the Certification Committee. | | WMCA committees are busy meeting. Districts are having meetings. It is a busy time for WMCA. | | | 2024 WMCA Annual Conference
Madison Marriott West – Middleton | | The WMCA announced at the 2023 Annual Conference that the 2024 Annual Conference will be in Middleton at the Madison Marriot West. While it is too early to announce the line-up of classes, you can get your hotel room reserved now. | | The 2024 WMCA Conference will be the shorter 2-day conference with a pre-conference day on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Conference will be August 29-30, 2024. |

| | Wisconsin Clerks Education Fund is for YOU! |

| | The Wisconsin Clerks Education Fund or WCEF is a WMCA committee that was established to promote the training and education of Wisconsin’s Municipal Clerks. This is accomplished by providing scholarships to clerks to attend the WMCA Annual Conference and the Spring Northern Training. In 2023, the WCEF helped 7 clerks by granting a partial or full scholarship to attend the conference. This year we hope to help even more! | | We are funded by generous donations from our vendors, from raffles held before and during the annual conference, and those that shop using iGive | | As a WMCA member you are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Please watch our page on the WMCA website https://www.wisclerks.org/wcef; the 2024 application will be out soon! |
