Advanced Concepts and Technologies International, LLC (ACT I), announced that it achieved Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) Global Defense Program (GDP) status. The GDP is a one-year program designed to assist well-established Aerospace and Defense companies diversify their international business base through the identification of potential new markets and business partners, along with the development of market entry strategies. The Sliding Doors STEM and Dyslexia (SDSquared) movement develops future STEM leaders by building confidence in students with dyslexia and equipping educators to help them learn. Located in Northern Virginia and staffed by a talented, dedicated group of tutors and volunteers, the Sliding Doors after-school program provides low-cost, individual tutoring in a specialized methodology designed for children with dyslexia as well as enrichment activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. United Bank Names Local Businessman Todd Stottlemyer as Honorary Chair of its 2018 United Bank Charity Classic
United Bank is pleased to announce that Todd Stottlemyer has been named honorary chairman of its 2018 United Bank Charity Classic benefiting Inova Kellar Center and the United Bank Community Fund. Stottlemyer is CEO of the Inova Center for Personalized Health, which includes the Inova Schar Cancer Institute and the Inova Translational Medicine Institute. Sevatec CEO Awarded Daughters of the American Revolution DC Chapter Top Honor
Sevatec Founder and CEO Sonny Kakar received the Americanism Medal, a top honor, from the DC State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DCDAR). The medal recognizes extraordinary qualities of “leadership, trustworthiness, service, and patriotism” in naturalized US citizens. As part of the award, Mr. Kakar was recognized for launching SevaTruck in 2016, a free meal food truck to serve hot, nutritious meals to underserved children and veterans in the Capital region. To date, SevaTruck has delivered more than 28,000 free meals. In 2018 alone, Sevatec has delivered nearly 10,000 free meals so far, more than double the 4500 meals delivered in SevaTruck’s premier year of 2016. To read a full press release, click here.
