This month, following a series of popular ETOA seminars and networking opportunities, we approach ETOA’s largest members’ annual buyer meets supplier workshop Global European Marketplace (GEM) and see the launch of ETOA’s brand new WTM stand. This is also our busiest time for welcoming new members, so contact Lauren today for our new members special, your last chance to join GEM and appear in the new 2014 ETOA Directory. 

As part of our continuing Origin Markets Series, ETOA will be holding two seminars at this year’s World Travel Market. Titled ‘Where Next for Japan?’ and ‘The Growing Pains of Brazil’, new research will be presented at each session followed by a panel discussion. These are from 2.30pm on Tuesday 5th November.

And, finally, we are planning a get together for tour guides at the end of November in Ghent, Belgium to give feedback and also to look at the plans for next year’s Great War Centenary. More details to follow.

FALL in PARIS: do not miss 2 great cultural exhibitions

Georges Braque exhibition 

This retrospective, dedicated to the major 20th century artist Georges Braque, will survey all the periods of his artistic creation, from Fauvism to his final works culminating in the magnificent art studios and birds series. The exhibition will focus on highlights in his career, such as Cubism, the Canéphores (Basket Carriers) of the 1920’s, and his final landscapes.
Exhibition organized by the Réunion des musées nationaux – Grand Palais and the Centre Pompidou.

Masculine / Masculine. The Nude Man in Art from 1800 to the Present Day

While it has been quite natural for the female nude to be regularly exhibited, the male nude has not been accorded the same treatment. 

Therefore when presenting the exhibition Masculine / Masculine, the Musée d'Orsay, drawing on the wealth of its own collections and of other French public collections, aims to take an interpretive, playful, sociological and philosophical approach to exploring all aspects and meanings of the male nude in art.

Given that the 19th century took its inspiration from 18th century classical art, and that this influence still resonates today, the Musée d’Orsay is extending its traditional historical range in order to draw a continuous arc of creation through two centuries down to the present day, and will include the whole range of techniques: painting, sculpture, graphic arts and, of course, photography.
