May Legislative Update 
The Colorado legislature has adjourned for the season. About 600 bills were introduced and almost half of those were passed. On the federal level, the American Health Care Act of 2017 passed the House of Representatives and can now be sent to the Senate. learn more

HRRMC Introduces Cash-based Pricing for MRI and CT Scans
Heart of the Rockies_Logo
Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center introduced cash-based pricing for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT or CAT) scans on Thursday, June 1. Patients pay upfront with cash, check, or credit card. Insurance companies will not be billed so the cash payment will not go toward an insurance deductible. The cash-based price includes both the hospital charge and the radiologist's fee. read more


St. Mary's Forms Alliance with Children's Hospital

An electronic connection between Grand Junction and Denver sparked the announcement on Wednesday, April 26, that St. Mary's and Children's Hospitals would form a working alliance. The electronic connection was the one that allowed physicians at Children's Hospital to monitor a child's fetal heartbeat and speak with his mother while she was in the examination room at St. Mary's Hospital. read more

New Women's Health Wing Opens at Memorial Regional Health

MRH Logo_colorAn open house was held on Wednesday, May 17th, to celebrate the opening of the new women's health wing at Memorial Regional Health. "We had a sharp increase to our numbers ... I think that trend will continue, as time goes on we hope to deliver close to 20 (babies) a month," said Memorial Regional Health's Dr. Scott Ellis, OB/GYN. read more

Colorado's nurses gathered in Denver on Saturday, May 13, to celebrate 57 Nightingale Luminaries and from those, 12 were honored with a Nightingale award—Colorado's top nursing honor. Among those chosen was Kathy Fagan, a nurse at Memorial Regional Health. read more

"Something people don't know about me is that I have a twin brother," said Bob, "He's visited me in the past and people have walked up to him thinking he's me. What's funny is that he also happens to be a CEO for a hospital in Ohio." read more

Community Hospital physician, Jessica Fisher, DO with Grand Valley Occupational Medicine earned her Worker's Compensation Level II program certification in April 2017. Dr. Fisher earned the highest score on her final exam in a class of nearly 100 providers. read more

Montrose Memorial Hospital Announces Healing Arts Program

Montrose_LogoThe Healing Arts Fund, a new initiative through the MMH Office of Philanthropy, is helping bring music into each patient room as a supportive treatment to improve patient's health and experience.

Music therapy is the use of music and musical elements to achieve non-music goals, such as reducing pain or anxiety, inspiring movement, and encouraging rehabilitation. A growing body of research suggests that the power of music can have significant benefits to patients and their families in clinical settings. read more

Yampa Valley Medical Center Receives Top 100 Community Hospital Award
Truven Analytics has named Yampa Valley Medical Center among the Top 100 Hospitals in the nation in 2017. They were also honored by the National Rural Health Association as a Top 20 Rural Community Hospital. read more
