Thanksgiving

It's Thanksgiving time - already?!  If you're like me, you're wondering where fall went and how we landed in the cold of winter already.  Traveling in the northern part of the state I am seeing snow here and there.  I must admit, the first snowfalls always look pretty - even when I'm not ready for them.

Thanksgiving is a time for us to evaluate all that has transpired during our 'harvest' of the past year.  It's a time when we all gather for a dinner, with family, with friends and some of us with strangers who become friends.  We get so busy with our daily lives and routines, we forget how many things we truly have to be thankful for.  It's good for each of us to take a moment and think of the very basic things in our lives that help us every day.

  • I'm thankful for a roof over my head, a meal in my stomach and warmth in my home.  There are so many in our midst who do not have the very basics to help them through each day.
  • I'm thankful for all the people who have crossed my path of life and been with me through my journey.  Without them, the journey would have been harder to travel.
  • I'm thankful for all of the fellow Clerks I have met on this journey and those who have become lifelong friends.  We share laughter, grief and love, which helps us all through those tough days at work and in life.
  • I'm thankful to have good health and access to good healthcare.  Without good health the struggle can be insurmountable.  Sometimes we encounter people having a bad day.  Maybe they are having health or other issues we don't even know about.  Keep this in mind when someone seems to be having a bad day - there may be things in their lives we are not aware of that makes their lives hard.
  • I'm thankful for the opportunity to express my thoughts and celebrate in worship and other ways that many people in the world do not have the freedom to do.
  • I'm thankful for having work that I love and am passionate about and not having to go to work in an unhealthy environment.  So many in our world struggle to find work or work in a difficult environment and do not have the ability to choose something different.
  • I'm thankful there was no election in November this year!!!  My sympathies to those who had any special elections.
  • I'm thankful for my family, the support they give and the love they show.  Family is everything and will always be there, no matter what.
  • I'm thankful for the mistakes in life and the amazing lessons I learn from them - even when they are painful.  Learning is an everyday thing, that makes us wiser as we grow older.
  • I am thankful for everything I have experienced in my journey called life.  Without those experiences, I would not be who I am today.
  • I am thankful for my dog, Tucker.  He gives me unconditional love and hugs me every time I come home, by wrapping his body around my legs.  There is no love as unconditional as that of my dog.  I pray others can know the love of an animal like I have.

What are you thankful for?  Voice your gratitude and share your thanks with others around you while you encourage them to share what they are thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving - may your turkey be moist, the stuffing delicious and the pie fulfilling!!
Safe travels to all those on the road!

International Code Council Welcomes General Code LLC to its Family of Companies

This agreement will considerably expand Code Council content management services and extend General Code’s reach to ICC members

Washington, D.C.—The International Code Council welcomes General Code LLC to its Family of Companies, effective November 15, 2017.

The Code Council, a 64,000 member-based association, is the global market leader in developing model codes and standards used in the design, build and compliance process. General Code is a market leader in codification and content management solutions and currently serves clients in more than half of U.S. states. Based in Rochester, N.Y., the company has been committed to serving its clients for the past 55 years.

“This acquisition of General Code will provide a perfect complement to our product and service portfolio,” said Code Council Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO. “We are strategically aligned with similar missions and goals, focused on safety and serving our members and customers.”

The benefits for General Code and its clients are equally significant. By joining the Code Council, General Code will have greater capacity to build on its premier product and service offerings with expanded resources and broader geographic reach to a larger customer base.

“The opportunity for growth and the possibilities this partnership offers are exciting,” said Gary Domenico, General Code president and CEO. “Ultimately, this is a union of two like-minded companies with similar values. General Code will continue to be the market leader in codification services and content management solutions for municipalities, and our values-based culture will continue to thrive in the years to come.”

General Code will retain all of its 113 employees and remain in Rochester. The company anticipates measured, purposeful growth over the next few years.
