10th Congressional District Debate – Be There for the Biggest Debate in One of the Country’s Closest Political Races
The Northern Virginia Chamber is partnering with the Loudoun Chamber and other regional business and academic partners to host the candidates for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, U.S. Representative Barbara Comstock (R) and her challenger, State Senator Jennifer Wexton (D), in a debate that will help determine the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2019. The debate will be held on Friday, September 21 from 8:00-10:00AM at The National in Leesburg. This debate is being presented in partnership with the Dulles Chamber, Greater Reston Chamber, Greater McLean Chamber, Northern Virginia Chamber, Tysons Regional Chamber, the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University and the Northern Virginia Technology Council. Leadership Fairfax is turning 30! Celebrate 30 years of community partnerships, volunteer projects and leadership development with fellow leaders, colleagues, friends and alumni. the 30th Anniversary event celebrates Leadership Fairfax’s beginnings as a program of the then Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce through its development into an independent community nonprofit that has graduated over 1,800 alumni. The event will feature entertainment, signature cocktails, dancing, an awesome silent auction, and networking, as well as TEDx style talks and much more! FCEDA President/CEO Gerald Gordon announces retirement; will take university posts in South Carolina
Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., whose work as leader of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority to build and diversify the county’s business community and economy led its transformation into one of the world’s top business locations, announced that he will retire at the end of this calendar year. Starting in January, Gordon will serve as a fellow in the College of Charleston’s Joseph. P. Riley Center for livable Communities, where he will be working with faculty, staff and students to support the economic and cultural vibrancy of Charleston, S.C. InsideNoVa Launches Event and Ticketing Platform
InsideNoVa, the region’s leading digital news source, has launched an online ticketing platform for local events and organizations, called InsideNoVaTix. InsideNoVaTix offers all the functionality of the major ticketing websites, but gives event organizers local support and the added value of marketing to the InsideNoVa audience of nearly 500,000 unique visitors a month across the region. MAG Aerospace to Add 120 Jobs, Invest $5.5 Million to Expand Corporate Headquarters in Fairfax County
Governor Ralph Northam announced that MAG Aerospace, the leading independent provider of outsourced aerial intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) services, will invest $5.5 million to relocate and expand its corporate headquarters 12730 Fair Lakes Circle in the Fairfax area of Fairfax County. Virginia successfully competed against Alabama and North Carolina for the project, which will create 120 new jobs. To read a full press release, click here.

Dewberry's Lisa Roger Promoted to Chief Information Officer
Elese (Lisa) Adele Roger, PMP, has been promoted to chief information officer of Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm. Roger has 28 years of experience, and previously served as executive director, IT and technology. Roger will report to Dewberry’s Chief Executive Officer Donald E. SOSi Awarded Contract by U.S. Army to Provide Global SATCOM Network Operations and Combat Service Support
SOS International LLC (SOSi) announced it was the sole awardee of a $55 million contract to provide technical support to the Wideband Enterprise Satellite Systems (WESS) managed by the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office -Enterprise Information Systems (PEO-EIS). SOSi will support Product Manager WESS Data Communications Network customers worldwide in providing secure and non-secure voice, data and video services and all phases of SATCOM management, engineering, installation, integration, operation, maintenance, and lifecycle support. 2018 ARTSFAIRFAX Arts Awards to Recognize Local Charities for Significant Contributions in Fairfax County
Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, and Virginia McGehee Friend will be presented with the Jinx Hazel Arts Award, Arts Education Award, Arts Impact Award, and Arts Philanthropy Award, respectively, at the 2018 ARTSFAIRFAX Arts Awards on Friday, October 26 from 12:00 – 2:00PM at the Fairview Park Marriott. The Washington Network Group (WNG) and the Embassy of Belgium are pleased to convene "The Case for Doing Business in Belgium: Transatlantic Trade and Investment Opportunities" seminar and networking reception at the Arlington Economic Development building on October 10.
