Your Wildest Dreams Come True

Nancy Wu, Head of Client Service

I know that you’ve always fantasized about becoming an Account Reconciliation Superstar Champion, to be revered and fawned over by colleagues, and showered with praise and affection. Well, here is your chance, as I’m about to spill the top three secrets of reconciliation success. So brace yourself for the secrets that will make your wildest dream come true:

  1. Just Say No to Roll Forwards: Make sure that the reconciliation actually supports the balance, and is not just a roll-forward of the general ledger transaction detail from period to period.
  2. Schmooze the Auditors: Document the nature of the account, reconciliation policy and reconciliation procedure so anyone can take over the reconciliation when needed.  If you really want to impress the auditors and get on their good side, this is what you do to show good governance.
  3. Be a Hound Dog: Track aging of reconciling items to identify potential issues.  Stale open items (i.e., open for more than 90 days) are exceptions that probably should be written off or specially handled, so don’t lose track of those items in the reconciliation.

We Think You Should Get Out More

At SkyStem, we believe that account reconciliations shouldn’t get in the way of life.  We help you get them done fast, get them done right, so you can get out of the office and on with your life!

See how we can help automate and streamline your month-end account reconciliations.
