Montrose & Delta Hospitals Ranked in Top 100 Hospitals Nationwide |
WHA members really do rock! Congratulations to both Montrose Memorial Hospital and Delta County Memorial Hospital on being named in the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals for the second year in a row.
The report is issued by the National Rural Health Association’s Rural Health Policy Institute, iVantage Health Analytics and the Chartis Center for Rural Health. According to the report, top performing hospitals excel in managing risk, achieving higher quality, securing better outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction and operating at a lower cost than their peers. read article

Monument Orthopedics & Sports Trauma Now Open in Fruita |
Dr. Peter T. Scheffel, MD, has opened his practice, Monument Orthopedics and Sports Trauma, in Fruita—another service provided by Family Health West. Dr. Scheffel is a shoulder, knee and hip arthroscopy specialist. He provides treatment/surgery for adult and pediatric patients who suffer from fractures, sports injuries, acute and degenerative injuries, or other orthopedic conditions. read more

HopeWest Recieves $10k Grief Reach Grant from New York

HopeWest recently received a $10k capacity building grant from the New York Life Foundation to support the HopeWest Kids grief program.
HopeWest Kids, the only program of its kind in western Colorado, provides grief and bereavement services to children, teens and their families who are coping with the serious illness or death of a loved one. read more

The Memorial Hospital Transitioning to Memorial Regional Health
|
The Memorial Hospital in Craig recently completed their 2017 planning with its Board and will be transitioning to a new name in 2017 that better encompasses their breadth of services.
"Through our planning processes, we realized that our current name and vision statement were not inclusive of who we are today or what we hope to be. We are more than just a hospital. We aspire to serve this community along with patients in other markets outside of Craig, the more remote parts of Moffat County and other areas. We are one organization and we want to be a leader for healthcare in our region," said Andy Daniels, CEO. read more

Aspen Valley Hospital Receives Awards at HealthCare Service Excellence Conference |
Aspen Valley Hospital received 20 different awards at the 17th Annual HealthCare Service Excellence Conference earlier this month in Long Beach, California. The conference is hosted by Custom Learning Systems which is "dedicated to delivering evidence-based solutions to help hospitals and other healthcare facilities improve the overall patient experience." read more

Grand River Health
Receives 4-Star Rating |
Grand River Health reached a milestone in Quality and Patient Satisfaction earlier this year and has achieved a four star hospital rating based on their 2016 quality and patient satisfaction measures. This is a huge first for Grand River Health and one that most hospitals strive to be and take years to achieve. Currently only 22% of hospitals nationwide are a four star or above. read more

Two Valley View Hospital Nurses Named Colorado Healthcare Stars |
Registered Nurses Niki Arnhold and Pat Trauger have been recognized as Colorado Health Care Stars by the Colorado Hospital Association and American Sentinel University. The statewide award program acknowledges clinical professionals who exceed expectations in the delivery of healthcare in Colorado. read more
