LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 26, 2016): The Entertainment Industries Council (EIC) is pleased to reveal the nominees for the 20th Annual PRISM Awards.
Since 1997, the PRISM Awards recognizes productions that entertain while presenting realistic portrayals of substance use disorders, mental health issues, and their treatments. “When it comes to taking on substance use and mental health concerns, PRISM recognized shows are at the core of communicating life saving information. The opportunity for cable networks, and local stations to air the PRISM Showcase is an unparalleled public service that FX takes pride in facilitating on behalf of our industry,” said John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions, and Chairman, PRISM Honorary Committee.
In honor of National Recovery Month, both the EIC and the PRISM Awards, will bring greater awareness to opioid addiction, drunk/drugged and distracted driving, and mental health challenges. The ceremony is produced as a television special showcasing powerful productions that spotlight facets of substance use disorders and mental health concerns, often touching audiences on a personal level.
PRISM Award nominees are assessed by a nomination review committee. Composed of seasoned members of the creative community and medical professionals, they measure the nominations entertainment value and accuracy.
Winners will be announced during the PRISM ceremony on September 30, 2016, at the Skirball Cultural Center, in Los Angeles. The 20th Annual PRISM Awards Showcase will be televised December 26, 2016, through the flagship airing partner FX Networks, as well as other cable channels, and online at eicnetwork.tv.
