Cynthia Aragón serves as the Executive Director for the Advocacy Center. In this role, she oversees U.S. government advocacy coordination to advance the interest and global competitiveness of U.S. firms seeking to enter new markets and win public contracts in foreign markets around the world. Additionally, Aragón oversees the Multilateral Development Bank Liaison program focused on connecting U.S. companies with opportunities arising from Bank funded projects.

On May 1st, our Board of Advisors honored T.H. Charles F. Bolden Jr. with the Chamber’s 2023 Legacy Award. Mr. Bolden is a celebrated former astronaut and NASA Administrator, Major General (ret.) of the U.S. Marine Corps., and Founder & CEO Emeritus of The Charles F. Bolden Group.

Among the highlights of the evening, Mr. Bolden joined Axiom Space’s Chief Astronaut, Michael Lopez-Alegria, and Chris Davis, former President of Raytheon International, for a discussion on the intersectionality of commercial space, energy, and national security.

Boardroom Session: Guyana

H.E. Vickram Bharrat, Minister of Natural Resources, and T.H. Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, Agency Head of the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest) shared their insights into the world’s fastest growing economy, during the 2nd annual Boardroom Session: Guyana. Oil and gas have fueled the country’s rapid economic rise, but now focus is shifting away from fossil fuels toward sustainable development.
Alistair Routledge, President of ExxonMobil Guyana, and Dr. John Ardill, Bilateral Chamber Board member and Vice President of Global Exploration at ExxonMobil, emphasized the company’s commitment to investing in Guyana’s local communities and long term sustainable development.

Market Spotlight on Saudi Arabia

The Honorable David Edginton, the U.S. Consul General in Dhahran, opened the program by highlighting the Kingdom’s rapid transformation and exciting projects and initiatives. Majed Sherbiny provided an overview of Sherbiny Holdings and the impact of generational transitions affecting prominent merchant families. Attendees heard first-hand from Elaf Aseel, Head of the Planning Division at AET, about her experience as a Saudi woman in the workforce and her success as a voice-over artist. Tatyana Aguirre, Commercial Consul at the U.S. Consulate General in Dhahran, discussed how best to access all the vast opportunities in the Kingdom.
