With its unique set of resources and assets, California’s San Joaquin Valley has a long history of success in developing water, energy and agricultural innovation into commercialization, beginning with some of the most water efficient irrigations systems in the world. Multinational companies are headquartered here where they have access to applications and customers, and where nearly every water need and source are present, from urban to rural, industrial to agriculture and ground water to surface water. The BlueTechValley Innovation Cluster represents the ecosystem that fosters technology innovation in the water and energy nexus and supports entrepreneurs from idea to commercialization.

BlueTechValley Innovation Cluster is based at Fresno State and is funded by a $5 million grant from the California Energy Commission to develop and commercialize new technology in the Central Valley Region. The region includes 39 counties covering two-thirds of California’s geographic area from Bakersfield to the Oregon border. In partnership with Hubs at California State University campuses in Bakersfield, Chico, Humboldt, Monterey Bay and Sacramento and the Sierra Small Business Development Center in Truckee, the Cluster will expand ongoing incubator and entrepreneurship programs.

The grant will allow us to raise the bar on our regional contributions to the water and energy challenges that not only affect us today, but will determine the future of the Central Valley.
The WET Center provides a “Front Door” to the BlueTechValley’s assets and resources, and provides a physical space for incubation and opportunities for entrepreneurs and existing businesses to collaborate and interact.

The primary goal of the BlueTechValley Innovation Cluster is accelerating innovation and bringing products and solutions to market that can provide benefits to the California ratepayers.

I was born in Arizona and  have lived throughout the United States. One of my favorite places to live was in Taiwan.  As a Program Manager for the BlueTechValley, I  link innovators with the people and resources they need and work with partners (such as CSU’s and UC’s) and host other organizations.
Fun Fact: If spicy food makes me cry...it’s good for me!!

I love seeing ventures flourish and being part of Fresno State’s entrepreneurship efforts in  water, energy, and agriculture technology. This holiday I’m looking forward to spending time on the Central Coast with friends and family.
