Educators Bring Brainpower to 2017 CEI Showcase
|

The 2017 CEI Showcase: Design the Future sparked imaginations and inspired plans for action for the 300-plus educators – many of whom stepped outside of their comfort zone – to explore ideas for meeting the needs of all students in Colorado. The event, held June 28-30 in Keystone, set the stage for teachers and others from the education sector to envision improvements and innovations that increase opportunities for student success.

AP Teachers Sharpen Skills in Denver

Last week, the 2017 AP for All Summer Institute (APSI) brought educators from around the globe to the Metropolitan State University of Denver campus for a deep dive into the craft of Advanced Placement instruction. CEI partnered with the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) to present the annual College Board-certified Institute.
This year’s APSI connected more than 600 teachers with opportunities to develop deeper content knowledge in their AP subjects, and identify strategies to effectively reach diverse student populations — students who might not otherwise consider enrolling in AP classes.

The Colorado Department of Higher Education and CDE are hosting a series of town hall meetings this summer to inform a statewide educator shortage action plan. Educators, students, parents and concerned members of the public are encouraged to share their experiences and ideas for recruiting and retaining educators.

The Succeeds Prize Application Window Now Open
The Succeeds Prize will give away nearly $100,000 in cash prizes at a live celebration on Oct. 3, 2017. As part of this, The Succeeds Prize is offering $15,000 to the winner of The Excellence in Education Innovation Award. Great Outdoors Colorado School Yard Initiative Application Window Open
Change your students’ school experience with a GOCO School Yard Initiative (SYI) grant. SYI grants help schools, which apply in partnership with their local governments, to construct outdoor spaces where kids enjoy unstructured play and outdoor learning.
